The First Laws
1) Please show everyone the amount of respect that you would want to be shown yourself. If someone happens to be rude or is bothering you, please notify staff; we would like to help sort things out.
2) Please don't argue with admins or mods. If you do have a problem with the conduct of one of our staff, or if there's an issue that the admin/mod you contacted initially didn't resolve to your satisfaction, please let (an)other member(s) of staff know. We want to help!
3) Please use the c-box properly and don't spam, use another person's display name or bring conversation into the box that is disrespectful to others or uninvited.
4) If you are going to be leaving for a significant period of time, please let us know in the MIA board; doing this helps us manage character activity.
5) Please don't post spam.
6) Any graphics, artwork, fanart, etc. should not be so large as to stretch the board out and make it hard to view different elements on a page. Please resize images that are too big for the board. Signatures should not exceed 500w x 200h and Avatars should not exceed 200h x 150w.
7) If there are avatars or signatures that are not made by your own hands, please give credit to the person who took the time to work hard at it. On that note, please do not take anything from the site without asking. Thank you!
8) Hotlinking is not encouraged; please try to link your images through image hosting sites. [Photobucket, Imageshack, Flickr and Tinypic for starters]
9) Proboards Terms of Service are to be kept in mind while on the site.
10) Grammar and spelling can make a world of difference in character and out of it. There is even spell check as a feature of every post made; use it please.
11) Please keep your IC posts in third person past tense.
12) When a character has been inactive for 30 days, they will be deleted unless there is some message left in the MIA board or sent to staff.
13 The history & people of Westeros should be assumed to be the same as canon unless a player's approved application states otherwise.
The Second Laws
1) The character limit isn't something of great importance on this board. The more involved in the board that you get, the more characters that you will probably accrue; however, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th characters are free of charge. After your fourth, admin permission is required for additional characters.
2) Please don't make Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus. Balance. For advantages and skills add proportionate disadvantages and flaws in order to maintain equilibrium. Try to stay away from typical cliched story lines and origins and come up with something original and creative.
3) As an AU site, we allow both canon and original characters. Some original characters might "replace" canon characters. There can only be one Lord Stark for instance. While some might not like canons being replaced, we ask that members respect this is an RP and a part of that is having the freedom to bring your own ideas to the setting
4) If you do want to play an original or custom character that replaces a canon one, they must take on the essential roles of the character they are replacing. For example; an OC replacement of Renly Baratheon would be required to be the gay lover of Loras Tyrell, married to Margaery Tyrell, Lord of Storm's End and King-in-Highgarden, thus preserving the political situation the rest of the site is operating on.
5) Each House (or Essosi city) may have an OOC House Head who takes responsibility for distributing troops between bannermen and/or other allies. They also liaise with any players wanting to create an original character to add to their canon family, ensuring that continuity is preserved and the character fits in well. To become the OOC Head of your House, you must have played the House's Lord (or their custom replacement) for a minimum of one month, and have at least 30 posts. (Players who were House Heads before this rule came into effect have been grandfathered in and retain their positions.)
6) If you want to create a character from a custom House, you may do so. However, for the House to be recognized in-game (and receive income updates, etc.) there must be 2 characters from that House in play, each with a different writer. This is to ensure that we don't have many minor houses being created and then abandoned. The first player to have an approved character from the new house may determine the essential facts about it, including how many family members there are and what relationships they have to each other. However, as a general rule, the more you leave open, the better, to allow players interested in creating a new character for your house some creative leeway.
7) Please use celebrity face claims only (actors, models etc). For consistency purposes we shall not be accepting image bases using cartoon/comic/anime/manga characters. Individuals in the public domain only please.
8) Once your character is approved, please be sure to post to the face claims thread to secure your right to the PB you've chosen. We don't want the same celebrity 'playing' two different characters!
9) When developing your application, it all must be written in your own words. You will be asked to rewrite any copy-and-pasted information.
10) Characters are free to take part in as many threads as they can handle at a time. Characters can freely move from location to location and take with them ten members from the House army as bodyguards. Moving any force larger then this takes two OOC days from any board to any other board. Movement within a board (for instance, troops moving from one Castle to another) can be moved instantly. Armies cannot be moved retro-actively.
11) When players wish to move an army (or any group of more then a player-character and ten soldier NPCs) please post in the "Moderator Request" board with information concerning what troops are being moved and where too. Staff will update this in the House thread. It takes two OOC days for a army to move from one board to any other board and in this time another player may choose to intercept, with reasonable justification to being aware (a force of over 1,000 men will will automatically be known as they pass through an area). Characters must be located somewhere appropriate to intercept.
12) A Region (or board) that is under siege cannot benefit from taxes and players within a Stronghold/Port/Castle cannot spend money until the siege is broken. If a siege is started, any characters who were within the besieged Castle/Stronghold/Port before it began are assumed to still be so until unless it has been established they have moved out. Players may not decide their character is not present after a siege is started.
Final Laws
1) It would be appreciated if posts are at least 5 lines/sentences each; however, more may be called for in certain threads. Short posts often don't give enough information and can be difficult to reply to.
2) Godmodding is prohibited. We can understand that a person with a high level of training has the likelihood to avoid more hits than normal, but not every hit. Refrain from controlling other characters' movements, thoughts, speech, etc. If you're uncertain about whether your response would constitute godmodding, contact the other player OOC to discuss the outcome and see if they're okay with it.
3) When your character is in the act of talking or thinking, make sure that it is marked in some way. Perhaps with a different color, "quotations", italics, bold, different font. However you want to do it.
4) When a battle starts, please contact a member of staff to moderate the battle. Staff will read the thread and make occasional posts to detail casualties and other factors that require updating. While we will allow players the general right to decide how their soldiers respond to events and how successful an enemy's tactics are, in the event we feel this is being abused to prevent an unfortunate outcome we will mention to a player that they need to play fair. Should this warning be ignored, we may step in and moderate more directly, which may mean forcing events in a more appropriate manner. If you feel a player is powerplaying with their own character or army, feel free to contact staff. If you feel the staff member moderating your battle is unsuitable, you may request a different staff member.
Players who plot & predetermine a battle outcome are free to decide how a battle resolves without the battling being formally modded.
Last but never least, have fun!
