It hadn't been a long journey but the old man would be glad to finally reach his destination and settle into a comfortable chair for the evening. As much as he boasted and blathered he was still getting on in his years and decades of constant marching and battle were beginning to take their toll on his powerful frame. Already he could feel the muscles in his lower back tightening despite the short time they had been travelling. But it would be worth it in the end, the Lannister's were never ones to do things half arsed and this wedding was one such occasion where they would be throwing the full weight of the riches around to impress their guests. Lannisport was huge compared to his own humble holding and it was easy to get lost if you didn't know your way around. Thankfully Drennan had been here many times before and even if he hadn't a servant was on hand to greet his small entourage and escort them to their quarters for the next day or so.
With his young wife on his arm he followed the servant, their bags being carried ahead of them, his youngest daughter Lilliana in tow, her eyes wide in amazement as she studied everything they passed, the tapestries, vases, statues, decorations...everything she saw she had to run her fingers over to see if she was dreaming. It made the old man chuckle and lean over to kiss his wife on the forehead while nodding in the direction of his girl. They both smiled as they were led to their rooms, a larger one for themselves and a smaller one for their daughter, it had been so long since they had been away from the Rest together and such an occasion was as good an excuse as any.
They would meet the other guests when summoned but for now they prepared themselves for an evening of feasting and entertainment...
