After the hour of the wolf (Lena)

[Torin Lannister]

The night of celebration concerning Lady Lena Lannister and her besting of Robb Stark had gone on long, lords & ladies of various import and supped wine and mead, a fool had danced and perform tricks that seemed impossible. Not to mention food had been consumed, great massive quantities of food.

It was well passed a late hour now. Guests had departed in various states, some came to give final congratulations to the Lady Lena on her victory and left, others had to be carried out after drinking too much. All were gone now, all but Lady Lena and Ser Torin. Servants nervously approached and the Lannister gave them an approving nod to start clear the table.

His hand was resting on his wife's hand now and he looked to her with a smile, not a cup of wine in his hand but a little grape that he popped into his mouth. He always had room for grapes.

Lena was nursing what might have been a fourth or fifth goblet of wine. Her cheeks were flushed from what had been an evening of dancing, celebrating, drinking and most importantly recounting the tale how how they drove the whimpering pup back to Winterfel where they were currently holding the castle as siege.
The victor took a long sip of her wine, her husband had his hand on hers and he'd been so supportive this evening she allowed him to keep it there.
In fact he'd been so supportive Lena thought it might be best for them only to come together in a crowd, they got along best that way.

Sighing and putting her feet up on the table Lena reclined in her leather backed chair. "It's been a long night, after an even longer ride. You've no idea how much I long for a nice feathery bed." She mused as the servants cleaned up around them. Lena set her cup down on balanced precariously on the arm of her chair and began to pull pin after pin from her elaborate hair letting the pieces fall one by one into curls around her shoulders.

"We'll retire as soon as you want." replied the Lion as he watched his wife let down her hair. Her hair was raven black, more like a Baratheon then an Arryn. His was so golden it could have been weaved by light stolen from the sun, or so he once heard a bard sing of Cersei long ago...and his colour matched hers.

The hand that was resting on hers now took it up, looking over the flawless white skin before he brought it towards his mouth and leaned his face slightly into it. He placed a kiss upon a finger and then another before simply smiling into it. His lips held contact with her hand so he could keep her taste close.

Lena watched him as he kissed her fingers. "Was the feast not to your liking that you wish to taste my flesh." She said cooly. But a moment later a coy smirk pulled one corner of her full lips.
She tossed the last of her hair pins onto the wooden table, each was long and ornate and Lena admired the craftsmanship of them. In her own private opinion wearing such ornate hairstyles just wasn't practical.

The daughter of the Vale took up her goblet again, taking another long drink, her eyes still on her husband's lips upon her hand. It seemed the Lion had missed his favorite prey.

"It was, very much. But you always have the sweetest treat last." replied Ser Torin with a smirk adorning his face. He gave no look towards the hair pins she was tossing away although he did notice the raven locks falling about her shoulders. The cool look on her face was betrayed by the slight slur in her speech that gave proof of perhaps slightly too much wine but almost certainly proof of not enough.

His held her hand still but turned it over, bringing her palm to his face, her fingers to his cheek and he kissed again. The skin was very different here, not calloused by certainly harder. She did wield a sword after all. A moment later he was nipping at a finger, almost playing with it.

Lena watched him more his actions were kind and sweet- the sort of thing a lover did when returning from a long journey, but they were not lovers. They were married, and unhappily so according to the state of their union when she left. Still, she did not pull away from him, be it the wine or war she was in a much better mood about their union. It had after all brought her a great glory this evening, she was no longer the awkward daughter of Jon Arryn, but she was the warrior wife of Torin Lannister- she was a defender of the King and the realm.
"You seemed to have missed me." She said softly, the ed's in her words seemed to come out like t's as she tried to focus on net slurring her words. She was after all quite tipsy.

"You are my wife." the tone that Ser Torin took when he replied implied that by the mere fact that he was married to her it was obvious that he would miss her. He fully understood the concept of what one was expected to do, it practically dictated his life. Be it an attachment he had created because she was his wife or because she was the only person he had been inside for months now it was very clear he was becoming attached to her.

"I find our bed an uncomfortable place without you." even if he had not shared a bed with her for a pair of nights before her departing, that was a different thing entirely. An angry wife and a wife removed from the place had very different sentiments.

"I've always found our bed uncomfortable." she said mater of factly. "It's not got enough padding on my side." She chuckled a bit at her own humor.
He was being very kind to her, almost startlingly so. What did he expect from her in return- or perhaps it was true what they said absence did in fact make the heart grow fonder.

Lena decided to go forward on his cue. They were stuck together until one of them died any how, might as well make the most of it. They were both to stubborn to die before the other was of any use to any one else any how.
"But I understand what you mean. The north is cold, and the tents are never quite able to keep me warm enough." She tossed her hair out of her face, revealing a complete smile, and red rosy drunken cheeks.

"We'll get a new one....and once Stannis is dealt with we shall return to the Vale, perhaps your old bed shall be more to your comfort." He had a sneaking suspicion that would please her. He had come to realize that living in the Vale, with some work to make it more suiting, would not be such a bad thing. It would certainly make sense as he was Warden of the East.

"Well you have no need to worry about tents now, a good bed with thick sheets shall warm you, and my arms." he had become quite the romantic during her departure it would appear.

Lena actually wasn't to thrilled about his arms warming her, it was quite hot here in the south and the only reprieve she got was at night sleeping with the shutters open so that a breeze could come through. But she smiled any way. "Oh you certainly have missed me, ser Lannister." She said affectionately. Torin a doting husband? Well Lena wouldn't mind going away more often.
Though if he were offering to take her away to the Vale she may never leave.

"The Vale has a very comfortable bed. I do very much like it." But then again the Vale was home for her, one always slept best at home.

"I have." with his father after arriving much of the stress Ser Torin had been dealing with at acting Hand of the King was removed from him and he was left to prepare the city for Stannis's imminent attack. It wasn't to his liking however. Ser Torin was a warrior best unleashed on an open battlefield or putting someone else on the defense. Not hiding behind a wall and waiting. It made his restless. It was good Lena was back, for he could burn off his excess vigor in putting another baby in her.

"We shall be there, hopefully in just a handful of weeks." Although winter was coming so it was unlikely they would live in the Eyrie itself very long but the castle built around its base.

Lena smiled brightly at the mention of being home so soon. "I can hardly wait." She leaned closer to him. "The Eyrie is a wonderful place. You'll find much enjoyment in it as I have." She informed him. "As a girl I would lie on the balconies and look out at the stars, they were so beautiful and clear." It had been early summer then and before Lysa Tully had married her father. Behind the Bloody Gate they had little fear of Aerys Targarian the mad king and she was happily spending her girlhood.

Looking into Torin's green eyes Lena smiled, brightly. "As horrid as it sounds, it almost makes me wish Stannis would come sooner." Though the only down side to putting Stannis in his place was according to their agreement Torin would have the right to again try and put a son in her.

"I would rather Stannis come tomorrow. Its the waiting that kills me." And it did. Waiting was so terribly terrible. The others take waiting! But he had no care for worrying about Stannis tonight. When the stone faced fool brought his armies to the gates of King's Landing they'd be driven into the sea to drown in their thousands, Torin would likely sail on Dragonstone soon after, put it to siege and take Shireen to keep Stannis on good behaviour. If Adelaide was foolish enough to support him, which the army mustered around Storm's End for some time now would suggest she was, her she'd be lucky if she got away with just a raping.

"But the others can take Stannis. Forget him tonight." Ser Torin rose from his seat and one powerful arm scooped under Lady Lena's legs that had her feet up on the table, he reached to scoop her under the shoulder and brought his wife up into his arms. Standing and steady, he placed a kiss upon her cheek. "Come on then, let us retire." the bed would do her good.

"Wait." Lena requested as she was scooped into his arms. She was still holding her goblet of wine and didn't want to leave it half drank- nor did she want to carry it to the bed chambers. Lifting the cup to her lips she finished into in a long drink and reached back to let it drop onto the table with a 'thunk' of hard metal meeting heavy wood.

"A lie in come morning will do me good as well." She said stretching in arms, her shoe slipping off of her heel as she did so. Lena had dreamed of a nice feather bed while traveling even if this one was a bit flat and lumpy she still felt it would be a lot better than the trundle of a camping bed she'd been on the past month.
