The North covers the area of Westeros that lies north of the Neck and south of the Wall. It's the northmost region of the Seven Kingdoms, ruled by House Stark for thousands of years.

Sub-boards: The Dreadfort, Winterfell, Moat Cailin

Located on the western coast of Westeros, in Ironman's Bay. It was formerly a sovereign nation by the same name until the War of Conquest. It's now ruled by House Greyjoy from the castle of Pyke. Bastards born in the Iron Islands are given the surname Pyke.

Sub-boards: Pyke, Great Wyk

Consisting of the fertile areas between the forks of the Trident. Because of its central position in Westeros it has been a frequent battleground. The people of the Riverlands are known as 'rivermen' and are a mixture of hardy warriors, peaceful fisherfolk and devout smallfolk. For the last three centuries the Riverlands were ruled by House Tully from their castle at Riverrun.

The Vale is one of the constituent regions of Westeros and was formerly a sovereign nation known as the Kingdom of Mountain and Vale before the War of Conquest. The Vale is ruled by House Arryn from the castle known as the Eyrie.

Sub-board: The Eyrie

It is ruled by House Lannister. Before the Conquest, it was a kingdom until the last Lannister king was defeated by Aegon Targaryen and surrendered his kingdom. Since that time, the Lannisters have held the Westerlands as vassals of the Targaryen, and later Baratheon, kings.

Sub-boards: The Crag, Casterly Rock, Lannisport

The Crownlands, is one of the nine constitutent regions of the continent of Westeros. The Crownlands are ruled directly by the crown on the Iron Throne. These lands include King's Landing and the surrounding areas, including the town of Rosby, the Kingswood, Crackclaw Point, Massey's Hook, Dragonstone, and other islands in Blackwater Bay.

Sub-boards: Dragonstone, King's Landing

The Reach is ruled from the castle of Highgarden by House Tyrell. It is one of the larger regions of the Seven Kingdoms and considered the most fertile and heavily-populated part of Westeros. Bastards born in the Reach are given the surname "Flowers".

The Stormlands are ruled from the castle of Storm's End by House Baratheon. They are so-named for the savage and frequent storms that batter the coast. Bastards born in the Stormlands are given the surname Storm.

Sub-board: Storm's End

Lying inland, east of the Free Cities, this vast grassland plains covers much of the Essosi inland. It's inhabited by the Dothraki people, a copper-skinned race of warlike nomads with their own language and unique equestrian culture. While the Dothraki do not trade, their slave raids are a driving force of the Essosi economy.

Sub-board: Vaes Dothrak

The Valyrian peninsula is a large headland extending south from Essos into the Summer Sea. Once the heartland of the Valyrian Empire and the location of the city of Valyria, it was partially destroyed in the Doom, with many islands formed, low lying areas flooded, and Valyria laying in ruin.

South of the Dothraki Sea, east of Valyria, and west of Lhazar is Slaver's Bay. The region holds many small city-states and the three great slaver port cities of Yunkai, Meereen, and Astapor. The cities were built from the rubble of Old Ghis.

Lhazar is located south-east of the Dothraki Sea and north-east of Slaver's Bay. It is a semi-arid land of pastures and hills. The horselords consider its shepherding people as easy targets and good slaves, calling them haesh rakhi or "Lamb Men."
