A handful of guards attended her, surrounded her at all times. No carriages or fancy trinkets slowed them down, no messengers had sent word of their impending arrival. She knew that a battlefield was no place for luxury, nor a place for shows and pretty things. They had not come to make a scene, they were here because Everen had not seen her husband in several months and she grew lonely without him. In a snap decision she had decided to attend him, since he was so neglecting her... damn wars.
Her husband, was exactly that. Hers. The battlefield and promises of steel and blood had stolen him from her and as much as she supported him with whatever endeavors he pursued, she did not wish to become a widow before she truly had the chance to become a wife. They disguised her down, dressing her in simple riding attire, unfit for a woman of her stature, but enough to avoid greedy eyes of would be highway robbers. Even her guards did not wear the cloaks and silks of nobility. Their armor was disguised to look more like mercenaries and she had given the specific instructions to play the role. They had done so masterfully.
The journey went with few problems. The disguise had worked well enough to keep them hidden and off the radar. She supposed not many of noble blood would ever willingly wear such drab articles of clothing but then again she had never been the standard of a noble woman. When finally she reached the encampment, she swung down from a top Crescendo, she offered the patrolling unit a document telling who she and her company was and after answering a few personal inquiries that only she would know, they allowed her passage.
She instructed them not to inform Alistair, only to inform him that he had a guest that wished to see him as soon as he was able. The soldier nodded, a soft smile upon his face and she offered him a few coins for his troubles. She waited as patiently as she was able, she had dismissed her guards and had given them the night. They had well deserved it. She waited patiently, speaking with a few of the soldiers who had the gall to approach her, but her mind was truly on her beloved and finally after what seemed an eternity the soldier returned, offering to her with a smile that Alistair would see her now. A wide smile encompassed her face as she said a short goodbye to her company and vanished into the tower gliding swiftly to his private quarters offering a quick nod to the guards before slipping inside.
"Alistair?" She called tentatively into the space, eager to see her beloved.
