(Sent from King's Landing before her departure for the Vale)
To my most esteemed cousin,
I write to tell you that I am well. Since our arrival in King's Landing, Ser Torin Lannister has been courteous and honorable. He keeps his word to speak the truth of the Lord of Light. My residence is comfortable and I have no fear for my safety.
It would soothe a mother's troubled heart if you might tell my children that my thoughts are with them, and that I love them dearly, but must be away a time. Tell them that it is R'hllor's work I am doing, Eliedt at least is of an age to understand it. I know that I was in error when last we spoke, but it is my intention to set it right through my deeds now, so far as I am able.
I leave for your approval the following instructions for the administration of my affairs, and you shall have my sincere gratitude if, having read them, you pass them on to Taran Chepstow whom I am appointing as my representative in my absence.
Eliedt is to continue his education with his tutors. Kirilen I wish to be under the primary care of Ishreya Tipping who was formerly my maidservant. Both children are to continue attending evening prayer as often as it is practical, and I wish for them to remain with at Dragonstone even should my sister-in-law suggest otherwise.
On the matter of finances and Eliedt's inheritance: if our associates in Pentos request an extended credit period, they are to have it, albeit with a corresponding raise in rate of interest. M. and G. in the Stormlands, however, are to pay in full in accordance with agreed terms. All of our own outstanding loan debts are to be paid in the usual timely fashion.
In my absence, trade with R. of Braavos and C. of Dorne is to cease entirely. The coin ordinarily spent on this is to be reallocated to doubling our usual custom with L. of Dorne, and the remaining ships are to be sent to the mainland for the purchase and transport of dried grain. Hold this until further word is sent regarding distribution for resale. Additionally, increase our imports from Z. of Pentos as far as financial constraints allow, and store in preparation for a fluctuation in value. Be certain that all of this is properly recorded, and have Eliedt review the accounts, he is old enough now to begin to learn. As far as possible do not make it known to any of our trade partners that I am away from Dragonstone, particularly those who first did business with my husband.
Dear cousin you have, as always, my loyalty and my highest regard.
Done in the Light of the Lord,
Halaevia Baratheon
