Post by Alexander Redhawke on Apr 23, 2013 16:35:32 GMT
Name: Ser Alexander Redhawke, The Forge-Knight
Age: 38
Place of Birth: Griffins Roost, Stormlands
Current Place of Residence: Griffins Roost, Stormlands
House:House Redhawke, Knight of House Connington
Family: Father - Unknown Hedge Knight
Mother - Alexis Redhawke
Wife - Marriene of White Harbor (Deceased)
Son - Allistair Redhawke
Appearance: Alexander is tall, muscular and would be handsome if not for his scars of war and his prosthetic limb. His hair is long and brown, which he slicks back. He has a neatly trimmed bead and blue eyes. His prosthetic arm is made of steel that has been tanned to a dark burgundy colour and then decorated with ornate markings.
Garb: Long, dark flowing coats, often emblazoned with the banner of house Redhawke.
Height: 6' 1"
Weight: 160 Pounds
Personality: Alexander, due to his lowborn upbringing is no scholar, however he shows some aptitude for military tactics and is a skilled leader on the battlefield When he found himself to be less educated than his peers he began to study intensely but still lacks the formal education of most knights. He finds joy in knowledge, either facts from books or simply learning about a persons past. He shows a great deal of respect to other Knights as, despite being one himself for many years, he still sees himself as a common man. This sense that he is equal to his subjects has made him very popular with his people, he is renowned for being a merciful Knight and a Knight that understands the needs and issues of his people. He is humble and worships the Old Gods of the North, but is not a zealous man and respects the religious beliefs of others.
While he is not a violent man and takes no joy in killing, Alexander adores tourneys and attends as many as he can, often with great success. His skill with a sword is matched only by his skill with a forge as, due to his origins, he is an excellent craftsman and spends many hours crafting swords, trinkets, Armour and more, simply for amusement. This has made him into a diligent man, who spends hours toiling to help his people and then hours more crafting beautiful pieces of metal work.
Politically he Supports none but the Targaryens, he would support Lord Jon Connington (SPOILERS: Jon Connington returns in the books) and half-heartily supports Ronnet Connington and King Stannis but he has no affection for house Baratheon and would much prefer to see a Targaryen on the throne.

Weapons: Alexander fights with the sword he forged himself, Hawkedge. Hawkedge is longer than a standard bastard sword but still used with one hand. Its blade is slightly curved and wider at the tip than the base, designed for cutting, not stabbing. To represent his house Alexander forged it with a Hawk pommel and and burgundy tinted blade. During battle Alexander wields Hawkedge in his left hand as his right (being artificial) is not flexible enough to act as a skilled sword arm .
Armour:Alexander, as with his sword, crafted his own armour. He likes to think it unique in design, with a helmet that has a long, decorative nose guard in the middle of an open face. The chest plate is unusual in that it sticks out from the center to from a ridge horizontally down the middle. The design is intended to drive swords and arrows away from the chest and is quite effective. His left arm is considerably more armored than his right as he holds a large tower shield in his right hand, with Hawkedge in his left. All of Alexanders armour is a deep burgundy colour with ornate silver artwork showing Hawks on his chest piece and shield.
Skills:Blacksmith: Alexander earned his nickname "The Forge-Knight" for obvious reasons. The son of a blacksmith and a blacksmith himself for many years, Alexander adores metalwork. Many days he simply spends creating weapons or armour either as gifts for his friends or simply for entertainment. He has become very skilled in the subject, despite his prosthetic hand and can forge pieces that are as beautiful as they are strong.
Common Touch: Due to his humble root Alexander is popular among the people, both within Griffins Roost and without.
Swordsman: Though Alexander lost his right hand he has trained himself to become quite proficient with his left, in both writing and swordplay. Due to his training as a blacksmith Alexander has large upper body strength and can deliver powerful blows.
Weaknesses: Maimed: Redhawkes most obvious flaw is his lack of right arm from above the elbow . Though he has replaced this with a steel prosthetic of his grandfathers design, he will never be as deft or fast as a man will his limbs intact. Despite the fact that he is renowned for being a kind man and is popular among the masses, he is disliked by many nobles. This is due partially to him being a lowborn who rose to power and partially due to him fighting for, and siding with until this very day, House Targaryen. He has only evaded punishment by being to insignificant to bother with.
Disrespect: Due to being both a bastard and a commoner lord he is disliked, even hated by many of his peers and few noblemen show him any respect.
History: The Symbol of house Redhawke: House Redhawke is a new one, born the bastard son of a wandering Hedge Knight and a blacksmiths daughter, Alexander was forced to forge his own way in life. When his father was traveling through Giffins Roost he became quite infactuated with the blacksmiths daughter, Alexis Redhawke. Alexis was a strong but pretty girl and falling in love with a knight seemed like a fairytale for her. However the fairytale was not to last, the Knight soon grew bored of her and moved on, leaving her heavily pregnant. Alexis named her son after herself, as she saw him as hers and hers alone. Alexander was raised by his mother and grandfather, who forged blades for Jon Connington and his men. Alexander was raised on the forge, his grandfather was a Northman and a tough one too, from the time he was 10 Alexander was expected to wield a hammer and help around the forge. As he became more and more proficient at his art and his grandfather grew older and less capable he took over from his grandfather at the age of 16. Once he forged a blade for Jon Connington himself and to Alexanders great surprise Lord Connington came to collect it personally. "This is a fine blade lad, you crafted it yourself?" Alexander was almost too stunned to reply, "Yes m'lord, my grandfathers eyes have been going as of late and though he is still a fine blacksmith, I have taken over the more intricate works." Lord Connington looked impressed, "Do you know how to handle a Sword as well as craft one boy?" Alexander nodded in reply, "And if I remember correctly, you're the bastard of that knight, what was it... Ser Donnit?" Alexander blushed and replied "I don't know m'lord, I never met my father but he was a knight, I know that much." Lord Connington smiled, "Good," he said, "Listen boy if you think your grandfather can handle the forge by himself for a while, I'm in need of a new squire." Alexander bowed lower than he knew possible, "M'lord, I am not worthy of such an honour!" Connington chuckled, "Yes you are boy, or I wouldn't have asked you. Report to the castle before sunrise tomorrow and don't be late!"
Alexander was suited well to the life of a squire, he was obedient, cautious and diligent, attending to the every need of his Lord, even working overtime to make sure that his horses were well groomed and his blades well sharpened. Once, whilst Lord Connington was out on a hunting trip, Alexander life changed forever. The hunt seemed to be going well, Lord Connington had killed several rabbits and even a deer, Alexander has snagged a partridge himself when suddenly they were beset by bandits. Conningtons horse was killed and fell to the ground pinning him. The other members of the hunting party were either slain or fled and only Alexander remained standing over his Lord, clutching nothing more than a dagger. Alexander managed to slay three of the bandits before the rest fled, he then lifted Lord Conningtons horse from his body and carried his unconscious body back to Griffins Roost. When Connington awoke he was so grateful That as soon as the two returned to Griffins Roost Connington dispatched a letter to his good friend, Prince Rhaegar. Rhaegar was amazed at the tale and persuaded his brother, the king to grant Alexander a knighthood and allow him to take his own surname, over Storm.
Alexander though he lacked the training and dynasties of other knights, had large upper body strength and a common touch, making him a popular choice of the people during tourneys. When The War of the Usurper broke out Alexander served loyally in Conningtons vanguard, charging into battle at his Lords side. At his own request Alexander also forged Lord Conningtons armour and kept it buffed and strong throughout the war. During the battle of the Bells Alexander was separated from his Lord and surrounded by several Baratheon men. When Alexander spotted Connington in he distance he attempted to charge through the Baratheon line and though he took down two of his foes Alexander awoke back in Griffins Roost, with no hand. They told him he has been injured in the battle and passed out but carried to safety by Loyalist forces who had fled back to Griffins Roost. Alexanders grandfather forged him A New hand so that he could fight and forge once more. Alexander purchased a small mansion and took Marriene of White Harbor, as his bride. She was a pretty young thing, from a minor knightly household but they were happy together. Tragically however Marriene died whilst giving birth to their son, Alistair. Since that day Alexander has spent this time educating his son or toiling in his forge. When the war of five kings broke out Ronnet Connington had marched north to join Renly, Alexander was the most senior knight in Griffins Roost and became its acting ruler. However this short period of command was not to last and as Renlys host was crushed, Ronnet was forced to pledge himself to the Lannisters and Alexander was again a Sworn-Knight and Master-of-Arms at Griffins Roost.
RP Sample: "Our next match Ladies and Gentlemen is to be between Ser Rorik of Jackstown against Ser Redhawke of Griffins Roost!" As the announcer stepped out of the ring Alexander drew his sword from his sheath and raised it for the people to see. Many of them cheered him and began to chant; "Forgelord! Forgelord!" Though no one could see it under his helmet Alexander smiled. Ser Jorvik slammed his visor down and charged at Redhawke, screaming like a madman. Alexander was distracted and had to bring his blade down quickly in order to parry the blow. As he batted Joriks blade to the side Alexander took a step back and began to circle Ser Jorvik, his deep red armour glistening in the sunlight as he did. Jorvik made another lunge which Alexander easily sidestepped, 'This one seems arrogant.' He though to himself as he brought Hawkedge down onto Jorviks shoulder. The knight screamed in pain and Alexander felt a momentary pang of guilt which was quickly replaced by fear as Jorvik charged once more. This time the knight was too close to dodge and Alexander had to bring his blade up quickly to block the assault. Their swords locked and the two men put all their effort into overpowering the other. At first it seemed that Alexander had the advantage but his steel hand got stuck and he found himself unable to move his shield arm. Jorvik took advantage of this and pressed his attack but Alexander pulled his final trick, he unhooked his steel hand from his stump of an arm. Jorvik tumbled forwards and fell to the ground. Alexander pounced delivering a few quick blows to the helmet and Jorvik was too disoriented to stand. Alexander heart the unmistakable sound of a man throwing up within his own helmet before a few garbled "I yield!"s. Alexander bowed the the crowd who were now screaming, some in joy and some in outrage. He walked off calmly, chuckling to himself the whole time.
Player: Red (Its what I am on most sites)
Other characters played: None, yet!
Any plans in mind for the character? I'd had a rise to prominence in mind but Alexander will probably seek out Daenerys and hopeful fight for her return to westeros.
