Appearance:
Garb: Larynne wears both loose-fitting, gowns and wraps of earthen colors, though when official reasons call for it, or she feels in the mood, she'll wear the more colorful gowns of dark greens and various hues of blue. Though, she isn't completely against the prettier attire as it does accent her shape nicely. She also likes to wear a light, hoodless cloak about her shoulders and ankle boots made of soft doe hide when out and about.
Height: 5'4
Weight:120
Personality: Loving, caring and a fighter when it comes to what she believes in. The safety of her family being the strongest spark of this. Generally she's easy to get along with, but she finds women who spend too much time in front of a mirror or worried about what colors to wear boring. Larynne minds her own hygiene but she's not vain.
She's a strong woman and not easily frightened, which can be both a good and bad thing. Larynne's been known to wander a little farther away from the safety of the castle down to a creek or a nearby meadow for some peace and quiet without an escort. Giving her mother and servant a near apoplexy at her disappearance. Nor is she easily swayed from something she strongly believes in.
When it comes to politics Larynne doesn't like being waved away like some bothersome insect. She does have some tactical sense and can be cunning when the opportunity presents itself.
In this sense, Larynne may seem ignorant, but she's more of an unexpected lightening bolt that can strike when she thinks it'll benefit her or her family.
Likes:
Dislikes:
Weapons: Larynne carries a sturdy dirk at her belt given her by father.
Skills:
Medicine: Larynne was always interested in the ways of medicine and when she found the opportunity to escape those dreadful knitting sessions, she went to the infirmary to watch Maester Grellen at work and with his aide learned how to heal many of the common wounds and illnesses. She kept a handful of scrolls and books he gave her hidden in a false bottom in her dresser. They traveled with her to Castle Dragonstone when she left Storm's End.
Weaknesses:
Headstrong - Wants to be a certain way, and has always rebelled against her parent's wishes for her to become a regal lady of the House Baratheon.
Soft-hearted- Larynne has a softness or tenderness of heart that can and usually leads her into trouble; she tends to be susceptible of pity or other kindly affection. She also cannot resist helping someone that she sees in trouble, suffering or in need, and she more times than not doesn't think of the repercussions or situation before doing so, or her own safety.
History:
The youngest daughter of Jolyon and Kiranda, Larynne was the youngest of four children, one brother Alyon, and two sisters. Dulcei, Teffaine. She lived at Storm's End all of her life. With exceptions to Alyon, Larynne's sisters teased and made fun of her because she enjoyed watching the soldiers training, and when old enough, rode a horse like a man wearing a pair of simple cotton trousers under her robes instead of side saddle as was appropriate for the high bred women that did ride.
Her parents tried to deter Larynne from her less than feminine ways, but she only ended up doing it behind their backs so they gave up stressing about it. She wanted nothing to do with sewing sessions, or, idle gossip that always went with it. it bored her to tears.
She has always loved to learn and explore the castle and soaked up information like a sea sponge. Things that seemed trivial to most people like her sisters and parents. Many times, Larynne would disappear to learn the ways of medicine from Maester Grellen, the family healer. Or, take covert lessons on the use of daggers and swords from the master at arms when time allowed.
After Robert Baratheon won the war and became king, Stannis left Storm's End for Dragonstone. Larynne along with her siblings and cousin Renly remained with her parents. Life went back to normal, though, she was only a small child and really had no inclination of what was happening around her.
But, once she became an adult, her rebellious ways were put to an end by her father. She was becoming a young woman and would not wear armor or wield a sword. Though, Jolyon did give Larynne a well made dirk for her sixteenth birthday. Made by Maester Arliss, the weaponsmith. Which she was never without, and always sheathed at her delicate belt.
Her father had promised his wife upon her deathbed that he'd find a suitable husband for Larynne. Her other sisters already wed and gone to live with their husbands. Alyon having wed Halaevia and gone to live at Dragonstone. Which left Larynne alone in Storm's Keep, and quite happy being single to do as she pleased.
Every suitor, both lords and knights her father deemed good enough for his daughter, Larynne found ways to dissuade their interests. To say she was a handful, was being polite. Jolyon found himself cursing his daughter's obstinate mannerism more than he ever remembered doing so on the battlefield.
She did find that although her tears could drop a man of most ages to their knees, her father became wise to her ways and so she decided to not further risk his wrath.
One beautiful spring day, a gangly bean pole of a knight, Ser Ridley was horrified when she told him that she'd become barren after eating dandelion leaves. Larynne caused another to run out of the castle when he saw red dots all over her face. As with that, which was simply a matter of painting on berry juice, all were ruses she concocted. She thought it was funny. Her father was not amused.
Three years later at age of 20, Larynne's heart was ripped from her chest from the invisible hand of love when finally a knight by the name of Ser Jonathyn Amory was brought into Storm's End after being waylaid by bandits, beaten but alive. She told her father she wanted to marry him and to send the others away. With relief and a greyer beard, Jolyon agreed and she was wed the next day in the castle's chapel.
A year later, Larynne had a daughter, Aryal. Though, she was found to have died in her crib during the night. Maester Grellen deemed an illness that befalls infants had struck the little Aryal.
The misery didn't end there for Larynne. During the battle of Blackwater, both her father and husband were killed fighting for her cousin Stannis leaving a great void in her heart. The two people in her life who were more important than the entire realm.
Time went by with Larynne spending much of her time in her room looking out the window that overlooked the gardens. The castle seemed so empty now. One evening, her servant, Elenia burst through the door with panic in her eyes and on her lips. Word had come from Raven message of a possible siege to Storm's End, Larynne decided there was nothing left for her here and that she'd leave for Dragonstorm with a heavily armed escort.
RP Sample: The small group rode steadily towards the inn that lay at the bottom of the vale nestled by a grove of pine with only roads leading in three directions. One being back towards Storm's End. So as to conceal her identity the best she could, Larynne wore her earthen colored robes and a woolen, hooded cloak.
Beside Larynne on a bay, rode her servant Elenia. The only person she trusted completely with her deepest secrets and thoughts. In front and back of the two women were their escorts. Big, armored men carefully chosen for their undying loyalty to the Baratheon family.
"Milady, all's clear ahead. No sign of anyone having followed us. An' the inn is safe as well." Announced a younger soldier, Strell his name was, who rode up on his battle mount and stopped in a cloud of dust.
"Good. We could all use the rest, Tarin." Larynne replied wearily, yet still with an aire of authority about her.
Once inside the small establishment, surrounded by her men at arms, Larynne pushed back her hood to reveal her youthful features and wavy, auburn hair that fell to her shoulders.
The innkeeper walked out from behind the bar. "Milady your meals will be ready shortly. May I have my lads take your things to your rooms?" The tall, thin bearded man rubbed his hands together almost too enthusiastically.
"No, thank you. Also, we'll come and get our meals. You understand your directions as to the room arrangements?"
"Oh! Yes. An' even I won't know which ones you're in. An' I swore my lads to secrecy or I'll have their hides an' they won't sit for weeks." He exclaimed firmly. "You're fortunate that the traveling minstrels left when they did, leaving enough rooms for you, Mi'lady."
"I suppose so Mellin. You'll be paid well for your trouble." Larynne flicked her deep, blue gaze to the commander of her group and gave him a silent nod. He untied a moderately heavy leather pouch from his thick belt and tossed it to the inn keeper.
"An, as promised, I'll tell any who inquire that you stopped, but decided to move on. But to where I've no idea." Mellin looked down at the pouch in his hands then back at Larynne. "No idea a'tall."
