It was early morning in Lorshore. Victoria had been summoned by her uncle Draegar to the courtroom of the castle. Victoria had woken up this day feeling not melancholy for a change. She was beginning to repair the damage in her heart where a hole was torn a year ago by the death of James.
"Yes Uncle?" She strides into the courtroom as she pushed open the double doors and entered fervently. "Ah Victoria, just in time, I want you to meet Lord Parys." Draegar stands from his grand chair and raises his arm outward toward a tall stranger with dark brown hair that rested just above his ears and a slight curl to it.
Victoria becomes pensive with a look of confusion about her face. She turns to this man and didn't even know who he was. She then turns her gaze toward Draegar as if she were horrified. "And who is this, Uncle?" She half demanded to know of him as she took precedence in this courtroom as a substantial family member who's opinion was taken of great importance.
"I believe you and Lord Parys would get on quite well..." Draegar encouraged to her get to know this stranger. Victoria just raised an eyebrow at him and took an unimpressed gaze toward the Lord. She almost laughed. "Another suitor Uncle?" She shook her head in disbelief and held a dainty hand to her forehead. Draegar sighs at his niece, clearly not amused by her reaction.
"Dear Victoria...it would be in your best interest in-"
"No it would be in YOUR best interest, Uncle!" She exclaims with outburst, determined to stand her ground. "I swear Uncle, if you continue to try and force me to marry a stranger expecting me to fall in love with him then you shall find me dead by morn!" She yells with raised voice. "You only care about yourself and your wants, nobody else's! That's how my father ended up DEAD." At that Victoria slammed the door behind her upon taking her leave.
"Quite a rambunctious girl you have there Draegar..." Lord Parys states with some delight. He was entertained by this woman, clearly he had never come up against a fiery challenge such as her before. Being a Lord of such stature that granted him anything he wanted at any time. Since when did he have to work for anything? Victoria was well worth the prize though, he thought.
"Forgive my niece. She is still hurting from the grief in her life. She knows not what is best for her. I urge you to give her time. Come back tomorrow." Lord Parys nods and bows to Draegar, turning on his heel to leave adorning a grand cape that furrowed behind him.

Late that night in Loreshore. Victoria was packing things onto her trusty steed Snowflake. The horse bellows through its nose at her as if knowing something was wrong. Victoria tilts her head slightly at her all white companion. "It's okay Snowflake. Its either this or I don't see the point in living a lie. Death would become me sooner than anyone would wish. Kelrick would never forgive me." She states with a sad glow. Suddenly she feels a pulling motion on her long cloak from behind. She turns to see her niece Rachel in her nighty, rubbing her eyes.
Victoria was always taken by surprise at how observant the child was. She faceds her and knelt down. "Rachel, why are you out of bed?" Rachel just blinked up at her aunt. "Why are you leaving, Aunty Victoria? Can I come too?" She asked innocently. Victoria smiled warmly at her, then stroked her face. "I'm sorry, Rachel. Where I'm going you cannot follow." She then took out something from her pocket. She presented the little girl with a daisy chain necklace.
"Here, I made this for you. Whenever you wear it, I shall be with you. I'll always be watching over you. Remember that. No matter what happens." Victoria told her niece with sternness but warmth. She saw no point talking to her like she was a brainless creature. Rachel nodded and after taking the necklace from her she put it around her neck. She then scurried back off to bed.
Victoria stood straight watching her run off. A small hint of regret formed in her eyes. Then a small gruff came from the side of her. Jasper, her faithful dog. She smiled at her companion and nodded. "Right, it's time to go." She stated with a sigh, mounting her horse, she took one final look behind her at her home for the past 21 years. Or prison. Darn soon approached.
"Onward Snowflake." She clicked her heels and the horse trotted off toward the Loreshore harbour where she would meet her transport. "Gulltown here we come." Victoria stated into the light breeze, taking back some strands of her hair past her ears.
