Personality: Delaney is very maternal and gentle. She has a calm demeanor, and is soft spoken. She plays the part of a noble gentlewoman very well, keeping her temper under wraps, and she is able to keep a good head on her shoulders. Under pressure and under hard circumstances, Delaney does her best to use her best judgement. Despite being a lady, and having a sense of what is right and wrong she sometimes like to go against her father's expectations and do things a lady would not do. She is envious of the males of her family, and wishes that she had been born a boy. She would sit in her library with a book, and often watch her cousin Bryce fight in the courtyard. How she wanted to be there and swing a sword. Delaney is well educated, and holds her head high when she enters a room. She is never too proud, but she hates being proven wrong. She hates being under estimated because she is a woman, and she doesn't like being thought of as weak and simple minded. She hates disloyalty, and would hate to see harm come to her family. She would prevent that at any cost, even if it meant at the cost of her own life. She knows the meaning of family and loyalty, and would do anything for them. There's an independence about Delaney, she's not easily influenced by anyone and she's very much her own person, so she likes to make her own decisions. Sometimes her decisions or judgments gets her into trouble. She's very spirited, but there's that hint of vulnerability that keeps her guarded from letting some people in, and it takes some time for her to warm up to people.
Likes:
Dislikes:
Weapons: As much as Delaney would love to learn how to wield a sword, her only weapon is a needle that she uses to do needle work. Someday she'll learn how to use a sword.
Skills:
Horse-back riding: All her life, Delaney has loved horses. When she is not inside doing needle work or learning a new skill, she is outside the castle grounds galloping through the fields. She feels she has a real connection with horses. Since she has no sisters, and not much of a mother figure she tells all her secrets to her horses. She takes every chance that she gets to go and ride.
Medicine: When Delaney was young she would venture into the village and watch a medicine man heal people with potions and herbs. It fascinated Delaney that such simple things can have such powerful affects on the human body. With her father's permission, she started learning from him on how to use these remedies to heal people.
Weaknesses:
Vulnerability: Delaney tries to keep a strong front in times of peril and war, but sometimes she can only hold up the charade for so long. She doesn't like the sense of being vulnerable, it makes her feel weak, and she feels that people cannot take her seriously.
Proud: She gets defensive when people think that she cannot handle herself, and she hates people sticking their nose out for her. As much as she is grateful for their help, she still feels the need to fight her own battles. She is stubborn like her mother, and she is strong willed to not let anyone break her of her spirit.
History:
Delaney was born to Ser Brenden and Lorna Tully in the kingdom of Riverrun, and she would be the only living child from the couple. Ser Brenden was hoping for a son to fight along side with him in combat, but once he saw Delaney she had him wrapped around her little finger. She became his world, and he would do anything to make sure that no harm would come to her, but most importantly no harm to come to his family. Delaney learned this important moral from her father, and it is one that she has always lived by. " Put your family first, and protect them at any cost," he would always tell her growing up.
Delaney grew up with no other siblings, it was just her and her parents, and the rest of her family that lived in Riverrun. She spent most of her time playing with her father's hunting dogs, and riding in the fields with one of her cousins. She had always wanted a younger sibling to play with. She became close with her cousin Bryce, so she considered him a big brother. Soon after her tenth birthday, her mother became pregnant, and she had never seen her father mother overjoyed. Maybe this will finally be the son he had wanted. Delaney was just happy to have a younger sibling to spend time with. Everything seemed to be going just fine. Her mother was a perfectly healthy woman, and there were not a sign that things could go wrong. It finally came time for Lorna to give birth, and she was in her chambers for hours trying to push the baby out. The physicians tried all that they could, but in the end Lorna and her baby did not make it. The baby would have been a boy, an heir, but it was not to be. Brynden was devastated, her wife had just died in child birth, and now he was alone to raise a six year old girl.
After the sudden death of his beloved wife, Sir Brynden knew he could not stay in Riverrun. He took his young daughter with him and traveled to the Vale with Lysa Arryn. Along their journey, Delaney was exposed to the outer kingdoms outside her beloved Riverrun. Over the next few years, Delaney traveled with her father, and stayed on with him in the Vale. Being with her father exposed Delaney to the world around her. Seeing different customs ,and on the occasion learn a new language. She grew into a well learned young woman and became a beauty like her mother. Staying in the Vale was not all that Delaney had hoped that it would be. She was given the news that she was to marry a young lord, who was ruthless in his ways, and that the match would only be to benefit both the house of Tully and Arryn. Delaney could never love such a man, and she found it despicable and unfair. The night of their betrothal, the young lord confronted her, and he got violent and hurt Delaney. Trying to break her of her unwilling spirit. Delaney fled in the night, and didn't looked back. She didn't know why she left, when she knew she had to tell her father, and he could protect her. Was it the fear of seeing the hurt and anger in his eyes? She would eventually tell her father what had transgressed, but not now.
Delaney rode to her beloved Riverrun as fast as she could for several weeks. Being cautious along the roads, and made sure she avoided danger. She knew little on defense, but she had wit and she was cunning. Along her journey to Riverrun she collapsed from exhaustion and fell from her horse. She woke the next morning, finding herself in a strange room, and she did not know where she was. A Maester had found her and brought her to where he lived and took care of her. She spent the next few days observing and watching him heal the sick and tend to the hurt. Delaney felt she had found her purpose, to heal those who were suffering, and tend to those who needed help. It was against the order of the lord of the land to train a woman, so the Maester suggested she become a scepta. It was exactly a high order position, but at least Delaney could put her passion for healing others to good use. Who knows where her life will take her now.

The sun slowly rose over Riverrun, and the dawn's dew still sat on the blades of grass on the ground. A hawk flew lazily in the sky as it eyed a meal for it's breakfast. A lone stag made it's way across the meadow and stopped at a spot the eat what was hiding in the under brush. His ears turned in all directions as he ate, and was biding his time till the house arose and sent out their hounds to hunt. He snapped his head when he heard a sound in the distance, the sounds of large hooves, so he raised his tail and fled as quickly as he could. Out of the woods came a large black steed, his coat sheened with sweat, and his rider hung onto the reins tight as she entered the middle of the field.
They stopped in the middle of the field, the horse's nostrils flared and he tossed his head. The rider looked to be a young woman with a light blue ribbon tied into her long brown hair. A few strands hung down by her face, and she brushed them back. Delaney Tully enjoyed riding at this time of the morning on horse back, she stopped to catch her breath, and she looked around. " That was a good run Emory. Think we better go back," she said softly and the horse pawed the ground like thunder. She smiled and patted his neck. Slowly and gently, she turned Emory around and tapped him on his sides and he took off in a lengthy canter and they headed back to the forest that led to her home. She splashed through a creek, water splashed all around her, and she coaxed him on to go faster. Her head dodged trees as she held onto his mane, and he flew over a large tree trunk.
She found the path in the forest that led out towards Riverrun, and she could see the tips of the castle in sight over the hill. She slowed Emory down to a steady trot, and greeted the people that she passed by on the road. She finally arrived at the stables, and she got off and handed her reins to a nearby stable boy. She brushed the dirt off her top and she removed her gloves. Better get cleaned up before she's seen in dirty riding clothes. She entered on the side and made her way up the stairs. Her lady's maid, Kaya, saw her and the older woman put her hands on her large round hips. Delaney smiled at her tried to shrug off that she had just been missing all morning. " Where have you been miss? Riding around, unescorted when there is trouble about!? If your father could see you now. Anyhow, he's waiting for you in his study," she said and let out a sigh. Delaney followed her to her chambers to change into a proper dress. Once she entered her chambers, she immediately changed into a dark olive dress, and put her mother's necklace around her neck. Her hair was fixed to look presentable, and she made her way to her father's study. She took a deep breath as she walked down the hall, and she turned the corner.
Delaney reached the large wooden doors that had carvings all over them. They had their family crest on them, and she stared long at them. Pressing her hands on the doors, she pushed the doors open to see her father at a large table with maps, candles, and other trinkets. Along side her father was an old family friend that she had known since she was a baby. She softly cleared her throat, and briefly looked down as she folded her hands behind her back, " You wished to see me father?"
