I walked slowly through the large corridor that led to the Great Hall, the seat of power within the Riverlands and the ancestral seat of my family's power since the days of the dragons... I was not alone, though my steps where the only ones heard. In fact the silence was unsettling for any who were familiar with the home of the Tullys. Household Guards lined the hallway, swordsmen, their shields slung over their back their left hands on the pommels of sheathed swords. The men looking on stoically without judgement or emotion just serene focus...
My footsteps came to a stop as I came to the large oaken and iron doors that led into the Great Hall. 4 Knights stood guard, their swords held in front of them, sword points resting on the stone of the floor, both hands gripping the hilts of the swords. From left to right they were Ser Marc Bracken, Ser Philip Mallister, Ser Willam Whent and Ser Edward Mooten. The knights represented four of the great houses sworn to the Tullys. The four knights stared at me and spoke solemnly as one. "By what right do you enter the throne room?"
I swallowed nervously, for this was an essential part of the ceremony which had taken the better part of two days. Sweat beaded on my brow for these great knights had the authority to turn me away from my inheritence... I breathed deeply, then spoke. "By right of Family for I am a Tully, by right of Duty for I am heir apparent and by right of Honor for I will defend our people and treat them as they deserve to be treated."
The Knights bowed their heads, gripped their swords and sheathed their swords. They turned smartly and gripped the doors, pulling them open, they were immediately buffeted with the cheers of those within the Great Hall. I breathed a sigh of relief and a smile flickered across my lips as I began to walk forward into the Great Hall. I was dressed in the red and blue finery of house Tully, a blue velvet cape trailed behind me. Pikemen held their pikes to create an arch in which I passed under towards my new throne... The crowd, my loyal friends, family and bannermen cheered and clapped, flower petals were thrown and it was the proudest moment in my life.
I sat upon the River Throne, my loyal knights at my side, my family at my back and my bannermen in front, cheering my coronation. The Speaker for the Seven and the Shaman of the Old gods came forward and raised their arms to the crowd. "In the light of the seven and the earth of the old gods we crown Sean Tully High Lord of the Riverlands!"
