The history of the Wulfgar family is said to be some three hundred years old. During the conquest of Westeros by the Targaryen family, many of the kingdoms attempted to defy their dragons might. The Wulfgar family claims direct heritage of the last Storm King, Argilac the Arrogant. Named such after choosing to meet the Orys Baratheon on an open field instead of withstand siege within Storm’s End. Within the walls his pregnant wife and daughter stayed behind. It was his intention to defeat Orys, whom was without a dragon. Giving his wife time to give birth to what he’d hope would be his son.
It turned out that Argilac was not the equal of the legendary Storm Kings of old. While she gave birth he and a decent portion of his men were defeated. Word returned to their hold as she graced the world with another daughter. It was planned that the child would be removed from Storm’s End. However, that was under the premise that the child was a son. Still the wife decided she’d rather not see her second daughter in the hands of a Targaryen family. She couldn’t exactly bring the newborn infant along when crossing the narrow sea. Their first daughter would stay behind in order to behind the knee and plead for mercy. She herself would cross the narrow sea with a few of the Stormlands vassals.
A smaller party would escape with the second daughter and go into hiding. Among them was a swordsman, his wife, their five month old son, along with an old maester. Within the woods they’d pose as a family. They found a rundown cabin in the woods not far from the shore of the narrow sea and harvest hall. Bordering the storm and now named crownlands. The mother left to the narrow sea only to be crushed by the wrath of the sea, in the always aptly named Stormlands. The only living people that knew of the second child’s birth were either her new family or dead at sea. While the Maester cared for her he kept a journal detailing her lineage. The young girl was informed of her background from her youth, in order to separate the two children.
Over the years there little cabin would be increased in size and travelers settled in the quiet area. While she would go on to marry the swordsman’s son, in honor of his fathers service she adopted his name as her surname. Since then only three people were privy to the knowledge of the girl’s birth. For a little over a hundred years it was kept secret until a few loose words came out. It was decided that there was by no means sufficient proof of that girl’s lineage. The information didn’t matter to the kingdom at this point. The new settlement known as Tempest Gate has shown growth since the conquest nearly three hundred years ago. Many of the advancements were accomplished after Robert Baratheon rebelled against the crown.
The Wulfgar family decided to follow the Baratheon family and was rewarded well enough. They began to gain status and were named the official lords of Tempest Gate. Tempest Gate is a port city that is elevated more so on the southern side than the north. The port is on a bit of a decline as well.
The first official lord of Tempest Gate would be Gordon Wulfgar. He married the highborn bastard daughter of Robert Baratheon’s grandfather named Fiona. She was raised in Storm’s End along with her older brother Steffon Baratheon. She happened by Gordon during his service as a knight. Many years past as he continued to develop his lands and teach his children. While on a hunt, his party was hit by a severe storm. Gordon contracted illness and was not able to survive its ravages. His eldest son Silas has taken control of the family and has yet to swear his oath as lord to Baratheon service.
