He listened to his new lords words carefully. Generally Roker was not one to use so many words, but it would seem rude not to keep up a conversation. He explained how he ran into some sellswords in Essos and further found himself in a bit of trouble, but had in fact pulled himself through or else he wouldn't be here today. Lord Darius Ullstide concluded his statements with a question for him. A question that he did not know the complete answer to.
After taking another drink of the sweet wine, he placed the glass once more on the table and cleared his throat. "During my upbringing I was always under my fathers shadow as he was a glorious leader of the militia to defend our homeland. I fought many battles by his side defending the place I once called home. Many years passed and there were more and more men who seeked our rich and fertile lands, but they never succeeded in grasping them as there own. During one particular battle my father was struck down, I avenged his assailant, but I was still under his shadow. Every accomplishment, every goal and achievement I gained; everyone seemed to give credit to my father and not me. It was my mind and my two hands who saved their crops and kept the elected officials in office, not my fathers. Indeed he was the leader of the militia, but the battle plans were mine and I lead the men into battle." Roker took a deep sigh after this, realizing he had still not quite answered his new lords question. "I am sorry Lord Ullstide, I have seemed to begin to ramble; I seek glory with my own name and to be recognized by it. In Essos that shall never happen so, I came to Westeros in hopes of it. Where my father had never been and his accomplishments never known. A place where I can begin anew and bring about my own name and glory."
At that moment he looked down at his now empty hands and rubbed them together. His breathing became erratic and his vision blurred. It wasn't that he wanted to forget his now deceased father, but that he just wished to be recognized for his own accomplishments and his father not reaping all of the glory.
