The vessel that had ferried him from Lorath in Esso had docked at Massey's Hook. In which he left his new found friend there, to probably never see him again. They would depart and he hoped that he wouldn't meet death quickly, but was much the way in these troubled times. Looking outward he remembered what his friend had told him of the Ullstide man and Roker Frostwyrm dearly wanted to meet the man.
Within the town established here he ran into a lot of people who did not care for foreigners or their questions. Roker was new to this land and had no real way of knowing if he was going to be heading in the right direction. If he was to just go off without at least asking for a proper direction; he would likely end up dead. As far as he was concerned. Lost in the woods, starving is a good way to die. There is more ways to die than just from the tip of a spear or sword.
Luckily for Roker Frostwyrm he did indeed find a women that was courteous enough to set him off in the proper direction. The women was a shopkeep, which held more interests for him. He needed some food before he set off or the pain of starvation would set in quick. Offering up the last bit of coin he had set out with from his homeland of Lorath, he purchased some dry meat.
Thus he was set to continue forward. With proper directions and some meat, he could make it the rest of the way on his own. Once he reached the edge of the town a forest could be seen. A forest that the female shopkeep had mentioned would be the quickest way to his destination. Unfortunately for Roker, he would face a dangerous foe within the very same forest.
He trekked for a few hours without much hardship. Rocks and creeks did not bother him, nor did all of the trees. In fact, he found it quite peaceful. It was nice to know that there was some peace within the lands that had been tarnished with the wars of man.
After almost a complete day of hiking Roker figured it was about time to set up camp. He had nothing really; save for his clothing, chest-piece, sword and the dry meat that he had purchased. Roker rested his chest-piece on a flat piece of ground where he would set up his camp, as a marker for if he couldn't find the exact spot.
He then set out to find some twigs and branches that had fallen from the trees to build a fire. It was not a difficult task as the forest floor had been covered with them. After filling his hands with all that he could carry, he returned to the flat ground where his chest-piece lie. Dropping the wood he found in the middle, kicking the loose grass aside to prevent the fire from spreading.
Within a few minutes later Roker had successfully started his fire and had already began cooking his meat. It wasn't much, but it was something right? Enough to fill his belly and he wasn't royalty, so it mattered little to him. He slouched back against a stump from a cut down tree, to relax while his meat cooked.
The fire was burning hot and the meat was smelling wonderful to him. His stomach had been empty for a full day now. The smell of the meat must of carried far into the woods because what had happened next Roker Frostwyrm would of never expected. Nor did he expect to live and tell of it.
A massive bear burst-ed through the thicket of trees. His muscular physique easily visible as the beast trampled over a fallen smaller tree. Roker was stunned for a moment, he had no clue on how to fight a bear or if he could scare the beast off. Quickly thinking he found that his only option was to try and fight the beast off, but it was a full grown bear. More than likely capable of killing many men.
Grasping his steel sword within his hands he cringed a bit. What was he to do against this beast? Roker knelt down onto his knees and waited for the best to come close. There was no way he was going to over power this fully grown bear, especially in 'its woods'. He calmed his nerves and held his sword low to the ground in front of him. Waiting for the massive beast to charge in front of him.
The bear did just that. Within seconds the bear was directly in front of Roker Frostwyrm, charging full speed at him. In a split of a second; Roker lifted his steel blade just in time. It pierced the bears vulnerable chest. Going deep into the animal, piercing vital organs. Roker Frostwyrm had used the mighty bears own strength against it to kill it.
After that encounter Roker was tired. He did not want anything to do with this forest anymore, or another bear. The bear left laying on the forest floor where he had slain it. That night Roker Frostwyrm dreams were haunted by the bear. Daunting dreams that were more-so of nightmares.
The next morning Roker kicked out the already dieing fire. He wanted nothing more now then to just leave this forest behind him. He picked up his chest-piece and place it back on over his shirt. It was the only piece of actual armor he cared to wear. Roker, now refreshed and fed, quickened his pace and began his trek towards Bronzegate. His intentions were to meet the man Darius Ullstide. Who his friend aboard the vessel that had brought them here and had spoke highly off.
Within hours Roker had left that dreaded forest behind him. The shopkeeps information about where to head next was hazy. She was probably not very familiar with this area either, but he had to do the best with the information he had. He continued to walk. Hoping to reach the next town before nightfall.
