I'M DYING TO CATCH MY BREATH

It was silent for the time of day that it was, a gentle breeze seemed to blow through the branches as the sound of a horse breathing hard echoed through the trees, taking off at a full out run as his rider looked over her shoulder. Nymeria Sand wasn’t entire sure where she was. No, she had no bloody idea where she was. She was lost, very and incredibly lost. She slowed her horse down to a light trot, giving it a chance to catch it’s breath. Everything looked different than it had before. The leaves on the tress were green and full instead of dead and dying. Yes, this was very different than the North that she’d been used to for the longest time. She chewed on the inside of her cheek thoughtfully as she felt her horse slow to a walk, nearly stopping. “Come Lithande, we don’t have time for you to be slow.” She said, leaning down and petting her horse’s neck. As her black hair fell over her shoulder, she pulled back the hood of her cloak and looked around, in hopes of making some sort of sense to her surroundings. A map would have been brilliant at that point, but seeing how she didn’t have one, she’d have to find her own way around.
This wasn’t the first time she’d managed to be lost in these parts, oh no, she was often getting lost as she entered the land where snow seemed to not exist. Her green eyes looked around for any sort of movement, but were filled with disappointment as no one seemed to be around. Lithande made a noise in boredom as she started to head back the way that they had previously come from, “Oh you seem to think you know where we should be going, don’t you.” She laughed softly as she sped Lithande back up to a trot, perhaps they’d find a town somewhere nearby. Lithande however, had a mind of her own as she kept a steady walking pace, causing Nymeria to sigh and shake her head, “You sure have your own mind.” The breeze grew a little colder as they made their way through the trees. Maybe they were central somewhere? She shook her head. How on earth did she get lost this easily! Then again, everything did seem too look the same.
Nymeria began to grow tired as Lithande picked up her speed to a faster walk before moving into a trot. This woke Nymeria up a bit more as she looked around, curious to see if anyone was in or around where she was. When she saw that no one was around she sighed bit. This really wasn’t adding to her already oh-so-good day. She breathed a breath of relief as she saw what looked to be Kings Landing. She hadn’t been here in years it seemed. When she was given the opportunity to fill in her father’s position on the small council, she could hardly refuse. A part of her, though thrilled for the thought, was also slightly worried. Had something happened to Oberyn? No, she couldn’t think like that, besides, surely word would have arrived to her if something like that did happen.
Pulling her hood back up on top of her head, she attempted to look a little more of a lady than of a lord as she rode towards the capital. It’s true, under all the dirt and dust, her pale features would show through and she would look as though she belonged in the high courts. With her free hand, she took her hair out of the plait it was in, tucking the wires into a saddlebag, letting her hair fall freely down her back, cascading into what looked like a dark waterfall. She looked up as she entered into the city’s core, taking in the surroundings that she had seen a few years ago. She avoided the glances from the women in the city’s core, avoiding the eyes full of disgust as to how Nymeria looked. She kept her head down, pulling back her hood as she looked up, hoping to see someone who could direct her in the right path.
