The Finest Sands of the South (Nymeria)

[Ser Uther Sand]

It was midday when Ser Uther arrived in King's Landing. The bastard knight known as The Sword of the Morning had been riding long and hard since he had received Lady Nymeria Sand's letter, stopping only to eat and sleep and he traversed the King's Road. He was not surprised that she had written to him and called him. If Nymeria sat upon the Small Council then it was likely House Martell had allied itself with the Crown and the Lannisters in which case his cause in the North was a fool's errand, he would never convince them to side with Robb Stark now.

He was adorned in his armour as he rode through the city, it once belonged to his Uncle when he served in the Kingsguard, but now the armour was coloured to his House colours, once could not masquerade as a member of the Kingsguard. While he would often wear a cloak of wolf fur the capital of Westeros was far too hot for that. It was neatly stuffed away in his horse's pack.

When he arrived at the Red Keep Ser Sand presented the letter with the seal of Lady Nymeria Sand of the Small Council and requested to be brought to her, as the letter requested he see her at once. He was brought to a grand hall, the likes of which he had never seen before. King's Landing was extravagant, he would say that much. So there he was, in his shining armour with his sword strapped to his back as he awaited to be greeted.

Sending word to Ser Uther Sand may have been one of the best decisions that she had made. Lady Nymeria Sand would have been lying had she said that she was not anxious for his arrival. They needed someone like him on their side. Since she had arrived, she subconsciously allied with the Lannisters, and that was a smart choice, at least she hoped it would be. As the first rays of the dawn danced along her pillow, she found herself waking from a long sleep, but not a restful one. She blinked a few times before she sat up and delicately stretched her muscles, feeling the tension begin to leave her body. She slowly got up and dressed herself. Deciding against revealing most of her body, she opted to wear a gown, but it was a simple, yet very elegant green one. As she did the clasp up and pulled her hair into a sort of up off of her neck style, she heard a knock on her door.

A smile appeared on her lips when she was told Uther had arrived. Ash quickly stepped into a pair of shoes and followed the runner who had told her that he had arrived. She thanked the young man as she walked down the halls, her shoes clicking against the stone floors. She was almost to the point of speed walking, but she didn’t want to seem overly eager. Truth be told, he may have been one of the few people she had seen from the South since she had arrived at King’s Landing. She picked up the hem of her dress as she walked up a few stairs, the doors of the great hall opening for her. She smiled softly when she saw the young man standing in the hall. She held her hands in front of her as she walked over.

“Ser Uther. Thank you for coming.” She spoke to the young man, her voice clearly grateful. The train of her dress lightly brushed the ground beneath her feet. Her green eyes were filled with gratitude and relief that he did make it there safe. “I’ll take it the journey went well?” she asked as she looked up at him. She was a fair bit shorter than him, but she was a fair bit shorter than most of the men in this place, “I’ve sent word to Dorne as well, but you are the first to arrive.” She had received word that the men she had asked for were making a move, but quite a few of them were helping out with the rebellion.

"Of course my Lady." It had been a priveledge to meet the Starks, but he was raised in Dorne, his mother was a Dayne and it was House Dayne that had been his family. He couldn't not help but feel excited at meeting one of the famous Sand Snakes, the daughters of Oberyn Martell. She was the chosen representative of Lord Doran Martell himself.

"It was without event, a blessing of the Seven when travelling the King's Road." more bandits made their living on that road then perhaps the rest of Westeros combined, it was terribly dangerous for lonely travelers and sometimes even small groups. "I am ready to serve, my Lady." pointed out the Knight as he placed a hand over one chest, when she made him aware he was the first to arrive. He knew that to serve would likely put him in combat with his cousin eventually, but he was the Sword of the Morning and his oath swore him to his Liege Lord Doran. His oath was bigger then he was and it bound his action. To only act on an Oath when it was convenient was not why such things existed.

With outstretched hands, Nymeria gingerly took his hands in hers, a physical way of showing her gratitude for him to have come on such short notice. The material that covered her arms on her sleeves slid off, revealing her under sleeve. Her soft skin lightly brushed his as she softly caressed his hands, “You must be tired Ser.” She spoke softly, “We shall discuss just how you will serve after you have had some rest.” Nymeria did feel far more comfortable in his presence than most of the people she had met. It was probably because she and Uther were similar in the sense that they were both bastard children and they were both from the South.

“I am sorry for pulling you away from Robb, I heard you two were together.” She blinked and realized what she had said, “Together in the sense that you were working together.” She mentally punched herself in the face for that one. Nymeria was rather fond of the Starks. They hadn’t done anything wrong to her, therefore she had no quarrel with them. And she did want to keep it that way. Having some sort of connection in the North was always a good thing to have. It was just good to have a friendly connection everywhere in the land.

Nymeria let go of his hands, allowing herself to fold hers together and rest them just below her chest. A few stray hairs had begun to fall from her updo type style. “Shall I show you to where you will be staying Ser?” she asked and looked up at him. She already had plans for that night, and needless to say, those plans were very… well, Nymeria didn’t want to call herself a whore, but she too had begun to feel sexually deprived and despite offers from a few of the knights, she was waiting for the right moment, and man, to show some skin off too.

"Aye my Lady." he'd be interested in a hot meal and a hotter bath more then resting upon a bed, he could handle a long day but it was not proper for him to bear the stink of hard riding and offend Lady Nymeria with it. Not right at all. He had never met Lady Nymeria before, but she was very beautiful. It seemed to run in the Martell's, Arianne was beautiful too.

"No apology is needed my lady, I am a sworn sword to House Martell, I will honour my vows above all else." It was true that he had been enjoying the company of the Starks, it was strange to be around the family he had heard about on many lips and to see them in person, but Ser Uther was a Knight and he did not break a vow easily. He had let his honour slip once before and he had no interest in allowing such a thing to happen again. Never again.

When Lady Nymeria offered to show him where he would be staying Ser Uther replied with a nod, his dark bouncing as his head moved. "I would greatly appreciate it." Once he was in a more suitable state of presence he could speak properly, if appeared to him that Lady Nymeria had plans. There must have been a very specific reason he was brought, he could not help but be curious. But his was not to wonder or question so he would not ask until she was ready to inform him, his was to serve.
