The festivities were over and it could be said that everyone enjoyed themselves. Torin Lannister sure did know how to throw a party when he wanted to, Petyr would give him that much. The people of King's Landing would certainly need that for the times that lied ahead of them didn't look very promising at all. On the other side of it all, men needed to do what they had to in order to survive. Petyr was determined to be a survivor at all costs.
He found himself making his way through the Red Keep to his private chambers there when he'd actually seen her. It was rare to ever catch Lena Arryn alone, let alone catch her. She was always tucked away somewhere or by the side of her faithful husband. Petyr chuckled silently at the thought. The things he'd heard about that man were terrible. Despite the fact it was old new, he highly doubted the lion's fur would remain the same color it was forever.
"Lady Arryn!", Petyr called out as he walked a bit faster to catch up to her. "I didn't expect to see you even after the festivities were over. Its rare that I get to see you around the Red Keep at all."
Lena had been seeing to her tack and horses this morning, making sure that the stable boy did his job with it and making sure that the creatures of the Vale would be in riding order if needed in the attack from Stannis.
She was headed back to her private chambers in order to take her lunch and tea when she heard her named called out by a familar voice. "Lord Baelish." Lena greeted turning to face another proud member of the Vale. "I was just returning for luncheon. I am alone most days now that I have returned to Kings Landing, my husband and his father spend ever waking moment in plans for war as I am sure you yourself have been."
Lena smoothed her brown leather vest as they spoke, her grey quilted tunic beneath it made her wish she'd taken to the airy clothing worn by the women of Kings Landing. The Vale was much cooler than Kings Landing or Casterly Rock- she'd dare say it was an agreeable temperature.
"Ah yes, these are rather hard times we are living in. And to think only a few weeks ago, the Seven Kingdoms were so peaceful. I suppose we wouldn't know peace without war, yes?", Petyr said, actually giving a little thought to the subject now. It was something he never actually sat down and took the time to think about. There were so many other things that he had to worry about. Keeping his riches up and making sure he wasn't slain in his sleep by one of his enemies at King's Landing was one of them.
"And yes, I have. As you can imagine, this war has taken quite a toll on the treasury. There's always more money to be spent when your enemies are working hard to kill you. Everything costs money and we're spending a great deal of it."
Money on so many investments, just so they could die. It was bad business in Petyr's eyes. These barbarian nobles were playing a dangerous and foolish game. While Petyr didn't mind a bit of danger, he certainly was no fool.
"King's Landing is vastly different from the Eyrie, my Lady. How has it been treating you since you began your stay here?"
