Re-establishing a tie [Joffrey]

So it had begun. Once again, Darius was on the move to defend and support the Iron Throne. However, this time, he didn't know where he was coming or going. When he fought in Roberts' Rebellion and the Greyjoy Rebellion, they could not compare with the mass rebellion now and not to mention the divided House of Baratheon. Either way, when he fought, he gave his loyalty to House Baratheon and the Iron Throne, and now he had once again left to fulfill his words. His words were his bond. He was a man of his word, even if his words sometimes comes out wrong, but he wasn't someone to let people down. Besides, he'd be scoulded if his father was till alive if he broke his word.

Speaking of his word, he recalled his conversation with Silas before he left, how they must fulfill their duty and make themselves known again. He also recalled Silus speaking about trees and how a young sprout rises to take over from a dead tree. Darius didn't use such metaphors, but it seemed that Joffrey was the young sprout. He was a man of fact, so he didn't regard the rumour at all. They were just that, rumours.

By this time after spending his time travelling in the Kingswood, he had now arrived at Kings Landing. The City Watch were all on duty and all alert that he had to be checked, before he told them of his desire to speak to King Joffrey, where he was then sent to the Red Keep, where the guards then took him to the throne room, with the guards coming before him. Their backs remained straight and upright as they walked upto Joffrey, bowing, before one of them spoke up, "My King, there is a Lord Darius Ullstide of Bronzegate who wishes to meet with you and asks if he is able to have an audience with you".

King Joffrey was dressed in his gold and red garb, he was sitting on his Iron Throne whilst being relayed information from his small council. Varys told him that Stannis was gathering an army in the stormlands and would be upon Kings Landing within the month, Lord Baelish on the other hand was infroming the King that the coffers were empty. An army was about to sack kings landing and the King had no gold to do anything about it... he sighed and dismissed the two men, his uncle's Jamie and Torin would annihilate the foe so he had nothing to worry about.

A few gold cloaks opened the doors and announced a man called "Darius Ullstide" Joffrey signalled for them to bring him forward. He recognised the name but could not remember why. After thinking for some time, the man was already in front of him.
"I recognise your name, but I do not know why? Remind me, then tell me why you are here." Joffrey demanded.

It had been quite some time since he had been in the Red Keep, or even King's Landing himself. What was on his mind was the reception that he would recieve and if he would get misunderstood which tends to happen with his bluntness, which was why he wore his dark attire since he had left the comfort of his home. No where was safe, especially in times of war like these, but at least you had men reliable back home to alert you when trouble arisen. Now he was in not-so-common territory and who knows what would befall anyone who entered. Afterall, Ned Stark had travelled far from the comfort of his home and now he watches the city on a spike. That's what tended to happen to those who bound themselves too much, which is why Darius loosened himself from such bounds and spoke his mind rather than keeping bottled up inside.

The guards returned as the doors to the throne room opened. Seemed Joffrey, King Joffrey, was awaiting him, as he stepped forward, and took another step, and then another. One step at a time, as he walked on, with the sound of his boots echoing across the concealed walls as he heard the doors closed. Looking around, there were quite a few gold cloaks about, but for him, he preferred his nice black cloak as it fell from his shoulders and down to the back of his knees. His hair also fell from the crown of his head to the top of his shoulders as he strolled along until he came to an appropriate distance between him and the King. Last time he had come, it had been for King Robert Baratheon, and now, for Joffrey, though he had yet to access the potential that the "boy king" could have, as some regard him as. Well, from the glance he gave, he certainly was no boy, for he was armed, had support, and there was no toys lieing around which was a good start.

"I recognise your name, but I do not know why? Reminds me, then tell me why you are here", came the demand from Joffrey as he sat upon his throne. Perhaps the power had gone straight to his head, or he simply wished to get to the point, which was something he liked as he too was like that, though his son Silus didn't think that. He too was like him, with his word being his bond, but at the same time, he thought things through and when he was not involved in fighting and having to take over his duties in Bronzegate, he instead done some reading and studying, and now his head was in the clouds. King Stannis had sent a letter out informing of how Joffrey was not the King, and was not King Robert's son, yet why was the proof? the evidence? the hard fact? No doubt Stannis had let Joffrey have a read of the accusation also, so he would pass it by.

Robert Baratheon had kept House Baratheon together and now House Baratheon was tearing itself part, all because Joffrey had the throne and some thinking they can do a better job. Nevertheless, it was Joffrey who was seated upon the Iron Throne, so it would be Joffrey that he would serve, but that didn't mean he was going to be all soft about it. He wasn't a fighter for no reason, though he could not help that he didn't much about him, he was fighting back when he was in diapers, and the fact he asked for no reward meant he wouldn't be recognised as much. It was a wise decision to make to deny, especially since he had his father to take care of, then took over his fathers' new responsibilities and then after the Greyjoy rebellion, his wife had got ill and had to find a cure, something he could not of done if he had recieved a grand award, though things had settled back to normal now.

"Pleasure to meet you too Your Grace", he answered bluntly with a helping of sarcasm, seeing that he did not greet him, so he would do for him, before proceeding with his answer, "I served your late father, the late King Robert, in attacking the Targaryens, and then later helped push back the Greyjoys of the Iron Islands who went against his rule. My blades were at his disposal, swearing loyalty to House Baratheon, but there has been no need of my blades since. Now, I come to present myself to you for your service. My blades at your disposal". His right arm rose from his side and went across his chest in order to show his respect to the new King. He knew how to respect, though didn't necessarily mean he would watch his words all the time.

Joffrey rubbed his hands as the prospect of more bannermen began to rise. Many had declared for the pretend Kings in hope of rewards, but they were stupid to think that. They would all be rewarded with death by the Kings army, a fitting reward for such fools!

"Very well, you are now one of my bannermen, wear it as a badge of honour and kill anyone who denies that I am King, Stannis army approaches, maybe you should return to your homeland and march your army when he arrives?"

After announcing himself to King Joffrey, once again swearing allegiance to the Iron Throne, he awaited for what Joffrey may say. Afterall, all he had was his word, but it would be silly of him to come claiming he can help if he weren't able to. Darius had quite the experience under his belt, and he wouldn't present himself worthy to serve if he was not, as he watch Joffrey's movement and awaited for what he had to say. "Very well, you now one of my bannermen", he begun. Darius was glad that the impression he gave was a good one. So far, so good.

It was then that he pulled his arm back in position infront of his chest and then sticking his arm out to the right with his face stern and looking to King Joffrey, "I shall make the preparations Your Grace, and will arrive as soon as my forces are ready". It was unwise to march when not ready, and not knowing how large Stannis' forces or the forces of the King were, he liked to be prepared, which is what he would be concentrating on hereon out.
