House Troops
Militia
The common man drafted into service in times of war to bolster the forces of the Great houses. While Militia tend to outnumber the forces opposing them, they are usually only equipped with basic weapons and armour. They are easily broken should things go against them.
Cost: (x20 men) = 100 Dragons
Pike men
Armed with long spears, some in excess of 15’, Pike men are drilled and equipped to deal with cavalry. A mounted charge against Pike men is ill advised once they are set to receive it, in fact any kind of charge against pike men in formation isn't wise. Mainly considered a defensive unit, a rightly timed pike charge can catch many combatants off-guard however once melee breaks out their long weapons become a hindrance and with only short swords and chain to protect them they will often come out worse in prolonged engagements.
Cost: (x10 men) = 500 Dragons
Archers
In terms of range, no other unit in Westeros can compare to them. Armed with longbows that can reach up to 800’ and loose 10 arrows a minute Archers can harass an enemy long before they are in range to retaliate, softening them up for melee units to break them. While at this extreme range the archers can do little against plate armoured warriors, within 100’ the arrows can punch clean through most common plate with ease making them a danger even to knights and their ilk. Best to keep them out of close combat however as they will likely run rather than stand and fight.
Cost: (x10 men) = 500 Dragons
Swordsmen
The meat of most armies in Westeros, professional soldiers, well equipped and well trained swordsmen can operate in all manner of capacities be it offensively on the field, or defensively holding the castle walls in a siege. Long swords, shields and anything from chain to scale armour make them resilient and dangerous given the chance to get into position.
Cost: (x10 men) = 600 Dragons
Horsemen
The standard mounted unit for most forces, effective with both spear and sword, using one for the initial charge and wielding the other once melee has begun. Wearing similar armour to swordsmen they have good all round protecting and high manuoverability making them perfect for harassing the flanks or counter charging a foolish mistake by the enemy. Just steer clear of those Pike men if they're ready for you.
Cost: (x10 men) = 800 Dragons
Knights & Squires
A host of charging knights is a thing of beauty and one of the most terrifying sights in Westeros all at once. Armoured in thick plate and armed with the best weapons they can lay their hands on, a charge from a large number of knights can break an enemy line, and should they make a charge from the flanks there is little anyone can do against them. Best to keep them away from pike men in formation however.
Cost: (x5 Knights & 10 Squires) = 4000 Dragons
Siege Weapons
Battering Ram
Designed to smash through the heavy reinforced doors, the battering ram is slow to move but remarkable effective, able to take considerable punishment as it sets to work.
Cost: (x1 Ram) = 500 Dragons
Siege Ladders
Simple yet effective, siege ladders allow an army to attack high walls and try to gain a foothold.
Cost: (x5 Ladders) = 500 Dragons
Siege Towers
A giant, slow moving structure that can rapidly give a sieging army a foothold on the enemies battlements while offering a reasonable amount of protection against attack while deploying.
Cost: (x1 Tower) = 2000 Dragons
Catapults
Capable of hurling several hundred pounds of boulder or stone over considerable distance, these war machines can devastate a force that tries to hide behind its walls. However slow moving and slow to reload they should be kept out of combat at all costs to avoid losing them.
Cost: (1x Catapult) = 5000 Dragons
Naval Forces
Long Boat
Little more than a river barge made seaworthy and outfitted with a forward mounted tower to offer some protection when landing. Having no keel these vessel can travel through shallow waters such as rivers and estuaries with little danger of striking the bottom. They are not however the most stable of ocean going vessels and should be kept close to the mainland. These ships can support 50 men.
Cost: (x10 Transports) = 1000 Dragons
War Galley
The pride of most Westerosi fleets the War Galley is a warship through and through, with a reinforced wooden hull, and towers both fore and aft to attack and defend from. The foredeck also holds a Ballista used to puncture enemy hulls. The decks are open to allow for naval troops to manoeuvre and prepare or repel boarding actions. Faster than the Troop Barge these ships sacrifice carrying capacity and space below deck for armour, armaments and speed meaning that each can only carry 100 or so men (more can be carried but this restricts the efficiency of the men on deck due to lack of space).
Cost: (x5 Galleys): 2500 Dragons
Great House Troops
Winterfell
Heavy Cavalry
The Starks, who do not anoint Knights, instead have Heavy Cavalry, a unit will all the skill and prowess of a Knight, but without the trappings of being a 'Ser'. Armed with lances, swords and armoured in chain and leather with heavy shields, these warriors of the north are a sight to behold at full tilt.
Cost: (x5 Heavy Cavalry): 3000 Dragons
Pyke
Iron Island Reavers
Raiders without peer, these men of the Iron Island are raised on the decks of their ships, at ease in a storm as if they were stood on dry land. Experienced in ship to ship combat and the swift and brutal raiding of the coast line of Westeros they are somewhat outmatched by more specialist foot troops. Armed with swords, axes and lighter armour than standard swordsmen they are non the less effective ambush or surprise units who are effective with the use of a grapple as well.
Cost: (x10 Reavers): 600 Dragons
Casterly Rock
Red Cloaks
The guards of Lannisport, the peacekeepers that roam the streets and keep the loyal citizens safe. Adorned in their red dyed wool cloaks and chain or scale armour they are easy to spot amongst the small folk of Lannisport.
Cost: (x20 Red Cloaks): 500
Sunspear
Dornish Horsemen
Dornish horses are the finest in the land, and the Horsemen of House Martel are rightly feared because of this. These animals are faster, stronger and more resilient than regular horses. Raised in the saddle the riders of these proud animals
Cost: (x10 Dornish Horsemen): 800 Dragons
The Iron Throne
Gold Cloaks
The guards under the employ of the Crown. These men defend King's Landing.
Cost: (x20 Gold Cloaks): 500 Dragons
Kingsguard
Personal protectors of the King. They are the finest Knights in all the land. Limited to Seven at any time.
Cost: (x1): 2500 Dragons
