Name: Ser Uther Sand, Sword of the Morning
Age: 19
Place of Birth: Starfall, Dorne
Current Place of Residence: Starfall, Dorne
House: House Dayne, House Martell
Family:
Ashara Dayne (Mother)
Brandon Stark (Father, deceased)
Allyria Dayne (Aunt)
Lord Eldric Dayne (Cousin)
Eddard Stark (Uncle, deceased)
Benjen Stark (Uncle, location unknown)
Lord Robb Stark (Cousin)
Jon Snow (Cousin)
Sansa Stark (Cousin)
Arya Stark (Cousin)
Appearance:
Garb:
Although his family can afford fine silks, when it is not too warm Uther has a preference to wear simpler clothes or leather when given the opportunity. He will normally wear the lavender of House Dayne but also has a certainly fondness of greys and blacks. When the heat of the South is too hot for such things without losing ones weight in sweat he will wear lighter materials in white or lavender.
Height: 5"11
Weight: 165 lbs
Personality:
It has never been said that Uther Sand is a bad person. Pretentious and a fool perhaps, but he believes in the chivalry of a Knight and the honour. He is kind and gentle, devoted to his House and their leaders the Martells. Being a bastard made him grow up humble, a trait that perhaps stood to him as a Knight in the traditional sense. He has a noble heart and an old soul.
The driving ambition in Uther's life is to become a legitamised son. Although comfortable in his own skin, it is hard for him to deny that he would be known as "Ser Uther Dayne" or "Ser Uther Stark" over bearing the name of a bastard, a reminder of deeds beyond his control. Since war appears to be brewing in the Realms his personal interests have been put to the side and he would serve a noble leader to see a good man on the throne.
Likes:
Dislikes:
Weapons: As "Sword of the Morning" he wields the blade "Dawn," last used by his uncle Ser Arthur Dayne. Dawn is a great sword said to be forged by metal from a fallen dying star. While proving such a claim is impossible, the metal it was crafted from is certainly unique in all the world.
Armour: Uther wears the suit of enameled scale & breastplate that used to belong to his Uncle, Ser Arthur when he served on the Kingsguard. The armour however, as he is most certainly not a member of the Kingsguard, has been recoloured to Lavender. The colour of House Dayne. Iconography has also been altered to the sigil of House Dayne and their overlords, House Martell. He wears a cloak of wolf fur, in tribute to the father he never knew.
Skills:
Knight A true heir to the title of "Sword of the Morning" and legacy of Ser Arthur Dayne. Ser Uther Sand has a natural talent with the sword Dawn that has been honed into true skill by his training's as a Knight and the tourneys he entered. Although he has only been a Knight for two years and thus his chance for gaining experience in true combat has been limited he has shown the potential to some day be as talented as his uncle. One of the finer swords in the South certainly, he needs some more success under his belt before he had put his name among the modern greats. But pity the man who underestimates him.
Although trained with other weapons, such as the lance and a one handed sword and shield he has never truly fought with either and lacks experience entirely. he's made a few impressive shots with a crossbow but that's about it. He's very comfortable on horseback however, be it as a means of movement or a war mount.
Commander: Trained in battlefield tactics and thought how to push men when the need arises. Once again his experience lets him down. He is better served as an adviser to a more experienced Commander.
Indomitable Willpower: While not a skill in any traditional sense, the one thing people can never take from Uther is his loyalty and honour to his House & House Martell. One can search the Seven Kingdoms, the Free Cities and anywhere else man can step foot but you'll never find something that will make Ser Uther Sand a traitor, be it torture of the foulest nature or promises of gold, prestige and beautiful women without equal.
Falcon Trainer: Uther has a great fondness for birds of prey (or 'raptors') and is known in South & in King's Landing for the birds he trains as much for being a Knight. It started as a loving hobby and something to distract himself with. Today is he known as one of the better falcon trainers in the South.
Weaknesses:
Lack of experience: Although typical brigands and run of the mill hedge knights should be careful should they cross blades with "Sword of the Morning" Uther Sand, his mettle has never been tested against the likes of Jaime Lannister or Barristan Selmy and ultimately natural talent and practice only count for so much. Against the finer blades of Westeros he's still wet behind the ears and engaging any in combat would likely result in him hoping for an honourable yield.
Genuinely Honourable: Although being honourable will stand to your character in many regards. Uther refuses to do any acts that will bring dishonour to himself or his House and he always treats others with honour. This type of behaviour got Ned Stark killed and Uther walks a similar path.
Born a bastard: To be fair, Uther is liked by many in most places he goes. If he was true noble born he'd probably have a fine station in life, known and respected across all of Westeros. But he was born a bastard and everywhere he goes he wears the name "Sand" as obviously as a cloak and its stigma is impossible to escape, even in his own home.
History:
Uther Sand is the child that was conceived between Brandon Stark & Ashara Dayne at the tourney of Harrenhal, a year before Robert's Rebellion. Being only a babe when Brandon was killed at the command of Aerys he never met or knew his father, but later in life would develop and idealistic version of the heroic Brandon Stark and his "family" in the North.
He only met Ned Stark once and he has no memory of it, when Ned visited Ashara to give her 'Dawn' after the battle at the Tower of Joy. Ned offered that the boy would have a home in the North if he ever wanted it, but Ashara wasn't eager to listen to the man who had just killed her brother.
Uther grew up to be a fatherless bastard in Starfall. He was perhaps lucky that Dorne treats their bastards as bit better then some other places, he wanted for little in the grand scheme of things. His mother loved him dearly and treated him as a son, even if in her heart of hearts she knew he was a bastard and would have options that should be open to him closed.
He would later squire for Oberyn Martell, no small honour for a bastard boy. The second bastard to squire for Oberyn in fact. He would complete his training in just four years, fast by most standards but bastard or not, it was hard to deny his strength at arms and strength of character. After completing his training he returned home, more respect of character attached to his name now that he was a "Ser" but he was still the humble bastard boy of Starfall more then anything else. When he returned home, on recommendation of Oberyn, his cousin Lord Edric Dayne named him "Sword of the Morning" and bestowed upon him the sword 'Dawn.'
He has since been a loyal servant of his family and Lord Doran, entering the melee's of tourney's when the opportunity arises. After Robb Stark was named King-in-the-North he rode North to meet him and swear him his service, upon arriving however there was a letter waiting that had been sent by Raven from Lady Nymeria Sand, wishing to meet with him at once.
Uther only managed to briefly meet Robb and never managed to swear him his service before riding to King's Landing to meet Nymeria. Upon his arrival Nymeria seduced him and used both a reminder of his oath to his liege-lord and guilt at having bedded with her out of marriage as a means to keep him loyal. Ser Uther has served as her personal guard and champion since.

Who invited you to the site? I forged it with sugar, spice and other things nice in a dying star.
Note: As it apparent from the family section, Ashara Dayne is not dead. I am functionally AUing the child she had by Brandon Stark into....the boy who lived?
