Name: Aegon Targaryen
Age: 25
Place of Birth: King's Landing
Current Place of Residence: N/A, mobile
House: House Targaryen/No Overlord
Family:
Rhaegar Targaryen (Father, deceased)
Elia Martell (Mother, deceased)
Rhaenys Targaryen (Sister, deceased)
Daenarys Targaryen (cousin)
Appearance:
Although Aegon possesses white-gold hair like other Targaryens, he has dyed it all of his life to conceal his identity.
Garb:
As a Red Priest of R'hllor Aegon wears almost universally red, if not wearing red entirely it is usually not always apparent as he wears as either a red jacket or a large red cloak on the outside of whatever else he might be wearing. Under whatever red vestment he wears on a given day he will usually wear whatever is handy or appropriate for the day, weather and activities depending. These can include light tunics and cotton breaches or something similar but in leather or perhaps simply roughspun.
Height: 6"2ft
Weight: 180lbs
Personality:
If the Gods truly do flip a coin when a Targaryen is born and watch to see if it lands greatness or madness, it is not yet obviously apparent which side Aegon ended up with although as it stands it certainly doesn't appear to be madness so perhaps it is greatness. He certainly appears to be a kind man, reasonable and as a Red Priest, a man of faith.
His life thus far has been one of work and duty, it has taught him to be humble and appreciative in a way a King in Westeros hasn't been in quite some time. Aegon, while told one day he will sit on the Iron Throne, is a man aware that it is his duty to do so, not his right.
Likes:
Dislikes:
Weapons: Aegon fights with a long sword, although not any particular sword. His tendency to set them on fire means they are replaced very often.
Armour: Aegon wears a suit of plate armour, it is deep red in colour but lacks any other real ornamentation or designs on the plate itself. Over the armour he wears partial Red Priest robes, which resemble and long jacket with a hood and skirt.
Skills:
Combatant: Technically not a Knight, he's received all the trainings of one from Ser Jon Connington, the man that raised him. His weapon of choice is a bastard sword, he doesn't pair it with a shield as he prefers to use his other arm for balance and be free to switch between using the blade one handed or two handed as needed. While not as dangerous as the Lannister brother Knights or Barristan Selmy or Garlan Tyrell, but he could hold is own against the likes of Loras Tyrell and either man would have as much chance to walk away the victor. Setting his sword on fire gives him bit of an advantage.
He's also been trained to use a mace, hammer, axe, lance, spear and the bow and arrow. While better then the average Knight with all he'd not stand much a chance at using one against a man that can be said to be a master of it. He is also capable of using a horse as a war mount and fighting while mounted.
Educated: Aegon speaks fluent in the dialect of Volantis, High Valyrian (and the bastard dialects in the Free Cities) & The Westeros Common Tongue. He has been educated in history, law, maths (and even has a limited understanding of geometry). He's also been educated in songs. He has been described as "more learned then half the Lords of Westeros" by a man that would know.
Red Priest: Aegon is a Red Priest and able to perform all the rituals and rites that entails. He is very well aware of how to use fire, such as the proper means to handle and apply oils (for setting a sword ablaze and other uses). He has also been trained to perform the traditional tricks of the Red Priest, he can look into the fire and occasionally R'hllor will grant him a vision, since dragons returned to the world he has been able to set his sword alight with just a little blood and prayer. He can also perform the Red Kiss, although he has not yet done so to know that it can work now. As a 'Dragon' as some Targaryens are, Aegon appears highly resistant to heat and doesn't burn like other men. Handy for someone that fights handles fire ritually and for combat.
Weaknesses:
The abilities of a Red Priest are not there's to use as they see fit. They are sent by R'hllor, and they may only use them with his blessing. Each time Aegon uses his abilities, it is a blessing and he can be no means depend on them to be there at any beck and call.
Furthermore, as a Targaryen (and now revealed Targaryen) there are many people that want him dead, some out of hate for Aerys and many because he has the most legitimate claim to the Iron Throne. There is a very large target painted on his back.
History:
Aegon Targaryen is the second child and only son of Rhaegar & Elia, although he's spent the vast majority of his life under the name "Young Griff." When the attack came on King's Landing and Gregor Clegane & Armory Lorch were sent to kill off the other Targaryen's, Varys switched Aegon with an orphan, whom Gregor killed and believe to be Aegon. Varys proceeded to smuggle Aegon across the Narrow Sea to his old friend Illyrio Mopatis, whom found the exiled Knight Jon Connington whom became a surrogate father for the boy and took him, raising him as a son and squire.
The two spent years together, traveling the Free Cities. It was in these days that Aegon died his hair brown and started going by the name "Young Griff" while Jon Connington took the name "Griff." There were others, close and trusted friends of Jon whom helped him and taught him and trained him. It was in Volantis that 'Young Griff' informed his 'father' he needed to be a Red Priest and sure enough he became one. It was not an easy process, but it was something that felt right to him and gave him a comfort he had not known before, but also that it prepared him in a way the others couldn't.
Most recently, Young Griff was staring into the flames and he received a vision. As if on cue the High Priest approached him and asked him whom he was, merely as a practice of personal examination (as opposed to not believing Young Griff was whom he claimed he was). Griff however responded, much to the High Priests surprise, "Aegon Targaryen" and proceeded to walk outside the Temple of R'hllor where Jon Connington was waiting and with him he had brought The Golden Company, whom had sworn their service to him.
Now he's arrived in Westeros.
