[/img]Name: Darius Ullstide
Age: 48
Place of Birth: Tarth
Current Place of Residence: Bronzegate, a castle southeast of Wendwater, south of the Kingswood, south of Kings Landing
House: Ullstide (Serves House Baratheon)
House Ullstide is a minor House that resided on Tarth with House Tarth being the rulers. The Ullstide’s motto was “Don’t stop the flight”, which had many meaning, both clear and some innuendo’s, seeing that it was relevant to their House with “Ulls” referring to gulls in the sky, and “tide” for the sea, meaning no matter what lies ahead, keeping pressing forward, do not stop. Living on Tarth meant they were no way near the mainland, but news of what happened under King Aegon was enough to make a person mad, which is why Darius left with some men and joined Robert’s Rebellion from Storms’ End. At the end, he asked for an award, but he sought none. Robert gave him Bronzegate as a reward nonetheless and that he hoped that should he call for aid again, that his call would be answered. Since then, House Ullstide had resided in Bronzegate.

Wife – Marion (45)
Son – Silus (28)

Appearance: Darius is a giant of a man, standing tall among others, with his strong muscular body and his pride in his abilities. Though his height and abilities may not match up with some of the renown knights of the land, his pride remains undamaged. His skin and facial features show defined complexion due to his age, with two sharp brown eyes upon his war-hardened face, and a rugged and rough beard which he maintains at a short length, though he does shave all when it is required. Afterall, there are those who consider the beard as a symbol of masculinity. Like his beard, he also keeps his dark chestnut-brown hair fairly short, sometimes letting it go up to his shoulders, but once it gets too long, he cuts it down.
Garb: Darius is a prideful man, proud of his abilities, proud of his House, proud of his sons, and also takes pride in what he wears. The only time he lets his pride pass by is when he is at home resting, where he wears a brown tunic cloak that he wraps around himself like so, since he has nothing to prove. He tends to wear darker colours, so he can blend in with the crowd and also helps when attacking at night, where brighter colours will get him noticed. Though it's his desire to be noticed and recognised, being a highly illuminated moving target is not his desire. When out and about, he tends to wear his casual attire, a white tunic and trousers which is covered by his brown gambeson. When not wishing to be seen, remaining hidden, being undercover, he adorns a dark black cloak that he wraps around him, but when not wrapped up, he simply uses the cloak as a cape like so which he tends to wear with the rest of his battle ready clothing, all in black. In cases where it is cold, or wishing to look different or older than he looks for a disguise, he has a large fur coat. Each of his garb and different attire each has a purpose and takes pride in each.
Height: 6’0
Weight: 180Ibs

Personality:
He is a strong and faithful man, standing by his word, his word is his law, his word is his bond, and not one to let his words come off loosely. Despite his abilities as a warrior, he does take the time to think before he acts, acting calm and collective, acting as if everything is alright, even when it's not...well, he tries to be. He can be arrogant, a pain in the rear, cocky and very straight to the point, whether he spoke good or not, he was a man that could be relied on. He not only had his strength but he was devoted in what he does, putting himself in harms way for those who earn his respect. Respect was a major thing in his books and if he weren't respected, then he still had more to prove, so if he's valued after proving himself, then he knows that he does not serve in the right place. He has a strong sense of dignity and does what he sees as right, whether others get the wrong impression or not.

Weapons: It is one thing to be ready, but another to be equipped and ready for whatever may lie in one's path. Dressed from head to toe in black like so, with his main weapon being a glaive which he keeps on his back, with it's length and hook being useful for dismounting troops off their horses, aswell as using its length to knock enemies near him to keep their distance. When not using his glaive, or if he is unable to use his long-range weapon, he has a concealed rapier and shortsword inside his cloak, each with it's own uses when needed.
Armor: As far as his armor is concerned, he has chainmail which lies ontop of his white linen shirt with his dark clothing that lies ontop. Though he wears armor, he also likes to look cool and having comfortable clothing ontop without carrying heavy armor, though he does have a heavy armor attire that he wears when needed, where his armor lies ontop of his chain mail, with a cloth robe ontop with a belt round his waist to hold his scabbard. Due to House Ullstide being Minor (at the moment), there is no sigil adorned on the cloak.
Skills: Growing up, he learnt how to master the sword and though he does not see himself as a master as of yet since there is still so much to learn, his skill would be his perserverence. Due to the nature of his work after things cooled down in Westeros, he could also be seen as a master of disguise, due to the many roles he has performed when away from home, and being able to use different accents in order to play his part well. He sees things as they are, says how things are and adapts well to situations.
Weaknesses: His ability to adapt is due to his bluntness which often gets him in trouble too. Though some things he may come out with may help him out of situations, some of his bluntless ends up getting him in situations, so it’s a sort of two-edged sword.
History:
Darius was born to Erwin and Serei Ullstide in Tarth. Tarth was and is, controlled by House Tarth, Lord Selwyn Tarth who only had one offspring, a daughter, who was more of a tomboy by the name of Brienne Tarth, as the sole heir of Tarth. To be in for a chance to inherit Tarth, Brienne had many suitors, though question was whether it was truly for her or the land that would be theirs. Nevertheless, the politics of Tarth did not mind House Ullstide who simply lived a laid back life, and with it being a minor house back then and not owning any land, all they had to do was work and pay their taxes, which was no problem at all.
Tarth was isolated from the rest of Westeros, so during the reign of the Targaryns, they were able to avoid much of the politics, but they could not ignore how the Targaryns ruled, especially the rule of the Mad King. Erwin taught his son all that he knew, before he joined those under Tarth and participated in Robert’s Rebellion at the age of 31, leaving his wife Marion and his two sons; 11 and 7 and his daughter of 3, home in Tarth. Tarth swore fealty to House Baratheon of Storms End, so it was only right that they should support. As a result, Darius was one of those leading, along with his brother to represent their House with their father unable to fight anymore.
Darius saw many skilled warriors on either side, and for Darius, he sure loved a challenge and fought well. Due to his efforts, Robert wished to award him in some way, but there was no reward he felt was right. After all, he had fought alongside his family, but it was a hollow victory for him since his father was badly wounded. Robert awarded him land for his efforts, wishing to reward all those that fought greatly for him, giving him Bronzegate, a castle to the south of Kings Landing, with the Kingswood inbetween. It was a great reward, with House Ullstide now having land of their own. He immediately sent for the rest of his House from Tarth to move to Bronzegate.
The next few years were hard. Though there had been no war, there was much to do in Bronzegate, but it began to get hard when Erwin Ullstide was on his deathbed. According to the Maester who served Bronzegate, the wound that he received in the Rebellion had been infected, but it was not retreated and as a result, the infection grew. Erwin was a prideful man, much like Darius but he was prideful of everything, too prideful, and as a result, he did not do the right thing to inform the Maester who could of prevented it. Erwin died, and as a result, Darius was now Lord of Bronzegate and Lord of House Ullstide. Nine years since Robert’s Rebellion, another rebellion took place to contest Robert Baratheon’s authority. This rebellion was caused by the Greyjoys with Balon Greyjoy naming himself King of the Iron Islands. It was successful to a point, until those on the side of the Baratheon pushed them back, along with the navy of Lord Stannis Baratheon from Dragonstone, Storms End and the Arbor. Jaime Lannister, Ned Stark, Jorah Mormomt and Thoros of Myr were key figures fighting against the Greyjoys with whom Darius fought alongside, as well as bringing his eldest son, Silus. In the end, Balon Greyjoy surrendered, and Theon Greyjoy was made ward of House Stark as all returned to their territories.
After Greyjoy’s Rebellion, there was a few years of rest and recuperation since it ended. However, it seemed there was something else for House Ullstide to worry about when Marion got ill. The master looked her over and there were several remedies, some that worked better than others, some that involved risk. Darius was a man who didn’t mind taking risks, but wasn’t so comfortable with his wife taking risks when her illness could get worse. As a result, he left to Pentos with Jarus, his second eldest son, leaving Silus to the duties required at Bronzegate, being the heir of House Ullstide. Unfortunately they came across a thief who took the purchase as Darius was paying for it. Leaving Jarus to pay with his pouch, Darius followed the thief before sparring with him until he gained the upper hand and took his purchase back. Seeing this, a Braavoski offered to tutor him and work on some areas which he lacked, seeing potential. Darius thought about it, before accepting, giving the cure to Jarus to take home and that he’d be back after a year and to remain in contact.
In this year, the Braavoski tutored him to help him control his blades properly. His loyalty remained with the Iron Throne, so when a spy under Robert Baratheon asked him for his part. Afterall, it was all well and good to get paid to track down the Targaryen’s, but another to get the job done by another. Darius therefore begun taking on different personalities, remaining in the shadows with his cloak and spying along with his associates. When his year ended, he returned back to Bronzegate, and it was in that time that he was informed that King Joffrey had taken the throne. Not only that, but Robert’s brothers had become independent from Joffrey and the Stark boy marching south after the death of Eddard Stark who had been named traitor. Silus informed him, as well as any pressing matters that needed his attention, before Darius resumed his duties.
It was clear that soon war would once again begin. The wars to come were a lot more dangerous and larger than the rebellions that he had participated in. All participants had something to win and something to lose, and it was that reason why Darius decided that his family should remain in Bronzegate. The loyalty of House Ullstide rested in the Iron Throne, and at that time, it was Joffrey. A letter came in to the Lord of Bronzegate, which was from King Stannis who informed him of Joffrey’s false claim to the throne. Problem was that Darius was a man bound by his words and bound by his duty, so as a result, he had no room for doubt. War had erupted once again, and once again, Darius Ullstide will enter the frey and play in the “Game of Thrones”……

The rain was pelting from the heavens above. Upon the ground laid puddles of water, while water that ran down the scales of the leaves to the tip, where a teardrop then formed and fell. Was the forest itself seeing the inevitable. The peace that the Late King Robert Baratheon had come to an end. When would there be an end to war? When will it all be over? Trees have lasted many more years than humans, but everything has it's time. There is a time to live, and there is a time to die, a time to smile, and a time to cry. Now it seemed, that it was time for war, where much destruction was ahead, the future unknown, the victor unknown, with only speculations to rely on.
A hand lifted into the air as a splash of a raindrop fell and divided into mini driplets. The man, whose hand it belonged to, was none other than Lord Darius Ullstide, after being made Lord of House Ullstide after his fathers' death. Darkness descended from above, with the only light, being the torchlights from Bronzegate to his rear, as a figure of a younger man appeared behind the shadow of Darius, as Darius then spoke, "The time has come, my son. I must depart. In these games, you live or die, and if you do not move, then you will not survive. I will send for you when it is time to move your piece, but in the meantime, you must continue to train, learn the arts, and be prepared for whatever may come". His head tilted the right, albeit just a little.
Silus listened to his father intently. However, he did not need telling twice. He understood the importance of patience, and sometimes he wondered about his father, that it should be him telling him to be patient since he often rushed things, but nevertheless he obeyed. He only hoped that he wouldn't be reckless about it. Until he could make his move, he had his mother and siblings to defend and train, because once he left, it was upto Jarus and Theden. He had so much gumption, though all he could do was wait. Robert Baratheon was impressed by his fathers' abilities, but his father accepted no reward, except that his House be known and as a result, with no duties to perform, he had spent his time making sure he and his brothers were strong. The Ullstide were once a minor house and now they were growing.
"These trees have surpassed the greatest of men", as Silus put his hand on the tree trunk, "Even if it is cut down, the tree still lives, for a young sprout rises from it's remains. I wonder what stories they could tell..".
Darius smiled as his cheekbones lifted and the corners of his mouth tugged, "You speculate too much. The trees won't tell you nothing, so enough of pointless slander. Our House is sworn to House Baratheon and unless House Baratheon betrays us, then we will not neglect our duties in their time of need. I don't care what rumours say, I care only in fact and deeds and doing what is right. I believe in the here, and now. I will leave to re-affirm our loyalties. We shall be known. To make our stand, where-ever it may lead, or cast aside into the dust. The Targaryns rule was corrupt and was ended. Starks fight the Lannisters and Baratheons fight one another. Perhaps there is something we can do to put all this to rest. Once all this is over, we can continue. We have our duty, and we shall fulfill it", even if it meant being spoiled with choice as to which Baratheon to serve. When he fought with King Robert in the Greyjoy Rebellion, Rob was King of the Iron Throne, and now that King was Joffrey. He didn't know how to react to the rumours, but after Robert won, he did swear to defend the Iron Throne. His words were his bond, and now his words were binding him up. It was him that sworn, so he would keep the rest of his House at standby for now, till he figured out what.....[/blockquote][/blockquote]
